I've been here plenty of times before, and the variety of things they have is great. It's a place where I get my coffee because they have a nice variety of whole and ground coffee beans. They also have some great sake and tea. The reason for the low rating is that customer service is very unpredictable. It's usually between "alright" and "meh." But two days ago, I went with a friend, and the customer service was the worst I've ever experienced in my life (I wish I was exaggerating). Part of me was debating on whether or not I should write this review, but my experience was so bad I feel obligated to share...
After we got our stuff, we walked to the cash register area and noticed a register open, so we walked to it. A younger lady that was there asked if we cut the line. We responded, "I don't think so?" because we hadn't seen a line. Then she asked which way we came from. We were still very much confused because she saw us walk to her... She started scanning a few items, and then she asked again if we cut in front of the line. We said we didn't know, still clearly confused. After she asked, I looked around and finally noticed the line (no thanks to any help from her). It was on the opposite side from where we came from, snaking around some of the shelves. I apologized and offered a couple of times to get our stuff and go to the back of the line, but she said, "No, it's fine. I already started scanning. " She then proceeded to very audibly huff at least 5 or 6 times while scanning our stuff and visibly shaking her head, all while muttering out loud, "This is why we have lines. " After we got our stuff and started to leave, I heard her mutter under her breath, something about using lines while using some curse words. Part of me wanted to stop and say something, but it was already extremely awkward, and I thought it best not to escalate the situation.
I read a review that was written a couple of weeks ago talking about a lady treating the reviewer very rudely, and I wouldn't be surprised if this was the same lady. Apperently, the cashier couldn't be bothered to point us to where the line was and instead thought that embarrassing me and my friend in front of everyone was a better thing to do.
I wish I got the name of the lady that rang us up, but fortunately for her, I didn't, and it wasn't on my receipt. I really hope her abhorrent customer service skills improve. If not, I don't want to know what would happen if she encounters a customer who is willing to voice their concerns out loud...

Ā Ā Ā Read moreI went to Cost Plus World Market tonight to pick up some olive oil and to look at their new holiday decorations. I was busy shopping for about 25 minutes when I decided to check out. At the check out were 2 women who had been at the counter for over 15 minutes but were having g some type of trouble in checking out. One of the customers told me they were going to be there for a long time and I should go to the other register. I did and as soon as I got behind the only customer who was in the process of being checked out, she turned around and told me that the register was closed and the employee was too busy to help me. I tried to ask the employee if this was true and he turned his back on me and got on the phone and then walked off.
I went back over to the first cashier and tried to get his attention but he refused to engage with me. I waited for nearly another 5 minutes but was totally ignored. I even asked if there was any employee who could check me out and was again ignored.
While I do like Cost Plus World Market, I don't like this store or the rude and disrespectful employees. If I ever decide to shop at Cost Plus again, I will not go to the Gresham store. Shane on...
Ā Ā Ā Read more3/1/24 Customer service is hit or miss. They were having issues with their system, returns and it seemed like it was lagging as I was checking out. Most employees Iāve ever seen on the floor but they were trying to figure out the situation and assure/assist customers while it was going on. At the back of the store though there were younger employees working/standing around gossiping and speaking very loudly. They were saying some things Iām sure some people would take offense to but it didnāt bother me other than the loud chatting/gossip. Their clearance sale was exciting but other than that not much impulse by or good deals really.
OLD; I personally like going for all the snacks and candy. Also the spices and just their different food products because it's from all over the world. We took a friend here today and he got a arm full as much as we did, it has everything it seems. Worth a...
