Mill Towne Gourmet — Restaurant in Griffin

I've lived in Griffin most of my life and I've never heard of this place until a co-worker suggested going here for lunch. It was good. They had mostly sandwiches, soups and salads. I didn't ask them what kind of soup they had. I got the chicken salad sandwich on a croissant. It came with a side for about $14. Their fryer was down so they couldn't do fries and they didn't have anymore potato salad so I just got chips. The food was very good. I wish the chicken wasn't quite so finely chopped but it had a pretty good flavor. It also had like 4 or 5 pecans on top of the chicken salad and one whole purple grape in the middle. Kind of odd to me. I guess maybe they do that in case some people don't want grapes or pecans that way they can easily pick them out. The chicken salad croissant was pretty big and they give you a generous scoop of chicken salad. The chips were really good too. The restaurant seems pretty popular because it was packed with people eating inside and getting to-go orders. They also have a display case up front with some desserts in it.

Went back for lunch today with my husband. I got the chicken salad croissant again. It was really good. Today there were a lot of grapes in it, like 7 or 8 large purple grapes. It was a bit much for me so I pulled about half of them out. Besides that it was really good. My husband got the tuna melt on a croissant and he loved it. He also got the fries. The fries have like a garlic parmesan seasoning on them and they were really good. I saw a couple of other people ordering a burger and it looked delicious. I'll have to try that next time. Thought it would be a good place to get nice sandwiches and salads but once we got both orders of a BLT and Strawberry salad I realized how doped we were out of our money. The Strawberry salad was requested vegetarian yet had little strawberries and nuts, too much blue cheese, a sauce I never requested, and to top it off the price of the meat was never deducted from the salad. Least to say I was severely disappointed and the pasta salad on the side I ordered since they were out of potato salad was under cooked and tasted old. The BLT and pasta salad my boyfriend ordered had similar problems, barely any bacon and the pasta tasted funny. Instead of giving us a refund, the cashier told us we'd be given a new meal if we didn't like this one, needless to say they never held that promise. Wouldn't recommend here for...

We were underwhelmed when we first arrived here, so much so, that my husband wanted to leave. The restaurant seating layout is very cramped and the floors were sticky (I don't think that is food related, it may be some type of paint issue). Those were the negatives and the only reason I took a star. BUT, once we ordered and received our food, we were pleasantly surprised. The food is outstanding. They mostly offer sandwiches and salads, but I had probably one of the best Grilled Cheese Sandwiches I've ever had. Quality is great, portions are large.
