I bring my mother to Sophie’s whenever she visits. Today was heartbreaking. Man in his late 40’s/50’s was ‘working’.. and having conversation with a customer. Customer mentioned an event at the church where there was a singer she “thought was a woman!” Man responds, “that’s why I didn’t go.” Customer attempts to make light of it and man doubles down, “No. that’s really why I didn’t go. I know that church they’re associating with and it’s one of those (makes a strange, disapproving noise).” I felt compelled to say something, so I did. “That isn’t very Christian of you.” He then says that we could discuss that topic all day if you’d like!” Hard pass.
