I usually don’t go out of my way to write reviews but this store definitely requires one. The owner of this store is taking advantage of naive Pokémon collectors. Immediately upon entering the store he pointed out that he had really “big” singles in his case saying they ranged from $200-$800. I am an avid collector so that instantly perked my interest. The cards in his case were predominantly from recent sets such as Celebrations and Shining Fates. There are no $200-$800 cards in those sets. You can easily google and see that the best card from those sets which is the shiny charizard vmax typically sells from $100-$120 on average. I also noted he had pikachu’s birthday card from Celebrations in the case which is a $5-$10 card and he wanted $30 for it. Additionally to make matters worse, he is actively selling shining fates packs for a whopping $25 per pack!!! He even bragged that he was making it easy on kids to buy packs because he was selling them in singles instead of making them buy an ETB that he was selling for a measly $200. What a rip off! Do not waste your time or money at this store. There are plenty of reputable Pokémon sellers both online and in the area that will sell you products at their market value.
Response to the owners comment: You are actively lying about your prices. You verbatim looked at me and told me the card was $30. When asked about the celebrations ETB you said $200. Stop lying about your disingenuous...
Read moreFirst time I am writing a review, however things need to be said about this card shop. Firstly this store should be rated an absolute ZERO. The owner while somewhat friendly towards me and my girlfriend did nothing but try to upsell me insanely over priced Pokémon cards, I don’t mind paying more for cards when I can walk out with them however when inquiring about prices he tried to blind side me with the prices while babbling about how many he sold yesterday and what not. As a Pokémon collector he knew nothing of the hobby except the absolute bare minimum, he explained almost cheerfully that he buys cards from scalpers and even pays them anywhere from $20-$30 more for doing so! As he proclaimed with glee “I’ve basically paid for cars for two of them”. Finally before all that he basically had tricked and older couple into selling cards to him and gave them a fraction of the price and made it seem like selling them by themselves would be a waste of time than slapped a label on the set with more than 100% mark up. I understand wanting to make a profit but this man is a fraud and over all a scam artist. If your a collector that wants to build their collection or even just have fun with the kids $20 for an Individual pack of cards is not affordable. When Pokémon eventually becomes readily available I will be over joyed when he is stuck with his stock and has to lower the prices to compete and even than I would...
Read moreA decent selection, but way overpriced! I understand a profit needs to be made, but $9 for a pack of 2022 baseball cards is absurd, regardless of whether or not it's a hobby pack!!
The owner knows a good deal about the hobby, but is completely full of himself and makes certain to make you aware of the fact! Bragging about how much money his customers spend in the store, and "sternly correcting" you if you make a mistake about card collecting. Not a good feeling to have when you're a newbie to the hobby.
Shop here if you're desperate for an actual card store, but be on your A game and bring plenty of cash if you venture inside!
UPDATE (In response to the owner's reply): Take my review, or any other review as simple hearsay or just another "customer's opinion". But given the fact that there are so many bad reviews of Conte's Card Castle should raise a few red flags. In each of the owner's responses, NOT ONCE does he say "hey, we're sorry for the bad experience, please come back and we'll make it right". Every one of his responses to a negative review is "damage control", and the owner blaming the customer for the negative experience. What does this fact tell you about how this...
