Take a walk with me chat. This is mainly for YGO but EVERYONE NEEDS to peep this 👀
To give you a quick back story: I’m only a little over a year back into the YGO community. My only experience at any local stores are from the states and 3 shops. I’m new to the island and community here. My flavor of TCG is JUST Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG. (Don’t attack me.)
Alright so now that you’re caught up I need to express to you how insane this store is. After realizing the entrance was on the second floor 🤣, I walked in and was blown away and caught off guard.
I was expecting this elaborate store with insane inventory and product selection but that wasn’t the case. The product selection was a little slim and there wasn’t a dedicated spot for high end singles BUT if I’m being completely honest. It DID NOT MATTER.
After walking thru those doors what took me away was the energy, aura, and vibe. Just imagine you’re going to a kick back or cookout and everyone is invited. OP, Warhammer, Pokemon, YGO, UA, literally everything table top related all together at one location JUST VIBING. I walked in and yea I’m clearly new but it didn’t matter. There was NO awkwardness at all.
I look around and notice that the shop has all these tournament banners up from all TCGs and what caught my eye the most was the front desk and back wall. It was set up with all kinds of collectible cards, keepsakes, and what appeared to be a tip mug. (I’ll tell you why this is important in a second. But for now we will refer to this as the SHRINE.)
After accepting this warm embrace from walking in, a gentleman comes out from the back room and asks how can he help me. (Me being blown away but still nervous) Introduced myself told him and I was new to the island. This man welcomed me and said his name is Thomas. (They WILL remember his name) I asked about their YGO and he showed me their selection and then I asked about some of the singles I noticed by the shrine. He said those aren’t for sale they were donations. CHAT. HE SAID DONATIONS. My jaw dropped. (Wait for the build up)
We aren’t talking about some .50 cent cards. We are talking about a plethora of CHOICE collection pieces. After talking for a few, I took a look around and noticed all the YGO OTS banners and asked if the Kaiba Blue-Eyes one was for sale. He laughed and said no. What I didn’t know about those banners was that store EARNS them based off of the community. Thomas explained that their community does a lot for the shop and that whatever they earned is presented to the community as a thank you.
Chat. Do you understand what’s going on at this store? The Shrine, the banners, the environment? This shop. VALUES their people. They hold their banners up proudly as a badge of honor. The community in return thanks the shop and uplifts them.
What I didn’t explain was that during this TWO HOUR interaction with Thomas, EVERY SINGLE PERSON that walked thru those doors dapped up, hugged, or fist bumped this man. EVERY SINGLE PERSON. There was NO stranger that walked thru those doors and EVERYONE was respected. This genuine specimen of a man, Thomas. Took the time to chat with me about not just YGO but about ourselves. In the two hours we got to get to know each other like we were already friends and just reconnecting after all these years. This whole experience was inspiring and comforting.
You could say it’s because we are on a small island. You could say it’s because there’s not a lot of places to go. You could come up with whatever reason in the book to say why everyone is cool with everyone but at the end of the day what matters is that Thomas and his wife runs that store FOR the people.
Stranger or not, TCG or not, Welcome to THE...
Read moreKnowledgeable Employees, Fantastic Ownership/Management, Clean Interior/Exterior Store, Competitive/Fair Prices, and they have an amazing story about how they got started! These people have their roots in the trading card game… starting with their great grand father and if you have the time; you should definitely ask them about it! It’s truly inspiring and uplifting how they are keeping his memory alive by keeping the store alive!
If you’re looking for any type of trading card(s) from Pokémon, Digimon, Dragon Ball Z, Magic, etc (they have many many more to choose from!) and want to truly “support local” and help out an inspiring family then definitely check them or give them a call and you’ll be pleasantly surprised at how courteous they are.
add: some people think it’s difficult to find but it’s really not. They are located across from the fisherman’s coop/chamorro village on the 2nd floor of the Old Hagatna Grill/Toves Flower Shop (across from the Serena Statue/Agana Bridge). Parking is available infront of the store or in the back of...
Read moreThe up and coming game store! :D The store itself has a small collection of Pokemon,Yu-Gi-Oh cards, some Warhammer stuff and much more. Thomas was really helpful, and transparency when speaking to me about ordering specific Warhammer minis. He's a cool dude deserving of a raise! I will say it would be nice to have a bigger selection of nerd stuff but I can't complain because it's either here or geek out (lame). There is a pretty expansive space for just about any game, tabletop or TCG.I forgot to mention Thomas knows many of his patrons by name that already is above and beyond Geek out. If you like cool, game stuff be here if not well...find...
