Mighty Purple Cafe — Restaurant in Hagåtña Municipality

While my husband and I have enjoyed the experience here in the past, this past time was extremely disrespectful. We had some issues with how we were treated while waiting for our 2 smoothies. We understand COVID has interrupted normal services however, the way customers are treated should never change. To sum it up, we tried calling multiple times the number on their website to order ahead. Nobody answered. When we drove up, the manager told us they’re only taking orders over the phone and we’d have to call. When we called, no time frame was given on when the order would be complete and we were not told to wait for a phone call saying it’s ready. My husband waited outside (standing) on the other side of the sidewalk from the door. The manager then came out and told my husband he can’t stand there and “standing at the door would not expedite his order so he should go sit in his car.” However, as many other people showed up, they stood at the door and were told nothing. We actually called the manager after getting our food and explained the situation. All we received was a defensive manager stating that we should have asked how long, other customers have complained, etc. all we wanted was to have an understanding business owner and to reiterate that if customers are complaining, it might be time to change practices. This has changed our whole view on this business. We will no longer be ordering through them and will gladly be giving our money to other well ran, customer driven...

First, the spicy tuna and spicy turkey sandwiches were delicious and the staff was friendly. But, I was in a rush and wanted to try this place for a quick bite.

I called while driving to place my order, and they refused to take my order unless I gave card payment over the phone. I told the lady I was driving, and she checked with a supervisor, but they still insisted I read them the card info over the phone before they could start making the sandwiches.

I'd understand if I made large order or something, but it was just 2 sandwiches. If you're looking for a convenient place to call in an order and pick something up quickly... Try one of the other places that will let you pay upon pickup. It would also be nice if they included napkins in to go sandwich orders.

Update: I gave them another shot today. Called for over 15 minutes. Line busy the whole time. As another reviewer mentioned, every other restaraunt on the island has a better system for to go orders. Some coffee shops and cafes in Guam serve açaí bowls, but they don’t compare to what Mighty Purple has to offer. Perfect blend of fresh and dried fruits and frozen açaí will simply just dance in your tongue. The granola topping was also fresh and crunchy, unlike some stores that serve it either soggy or dried up.

The cafe is pretty loud with music blasting at a high volume. It was a little bit difficult to have conversations in the store. The staff could be just a little more friendlier. Didn’t get much of friendly upbeat vibe from them. But they were quite professional and weren’t rude or anything, so rest assured. This is the place to be for the freshest açaí bowl...
