Well what can i say about 2nd & Charles, ive had wonderful experiences and ive had awful experiences. Let me preface this by saying that i do love this place and ive been a patron since it opened a few years back. This review is from a book, video game, movie and more collector so i have a particular stance compared to some other people. To start the staff is friendly and helpful for the most part but some dont even bother with a passing glance, the one gripe i have is that they try to push a magazine subscription everytime you check out and its not an offer its "and with this purchase you get x, y, and z magazines for 6 months" i dont want any of these they dont interest me at all personally and i doubt many people accept. Generally speaking this is a free now charge later tactic that many companies use because by the time that x amount of months is up and its time to auto charge my card for another years worth of trash bin magazines ive already forgot to cancel it and they've got my money in what i would describe as retail ransom, either cancel your subscription or we take your money and you'll never see it again. Second is the prices and holy hell are they bizarre, i can remember when the store was still a year or so old seeing just plain cartridges of the older pokemon games trying to be sold for over a hundred dollars some even priced at 200 meanwhile i could get the same thing on ebay for 30 bucks and thats high balling it; some things however seem like the people working their drew peices of paper from a hat with different prices, ive gotten a ton of items for far under retail price and other for unfortunately over retail price. This store offers a ton to the consumer everything from anime themed umbrellas to that copy of super mario bros duck hunt that you mysteriously lost when your cousin timmy came to visit that Christmas in 92. Honestly if you're getting into the collecting scene for just about any type of media they've got a huge assortment to beef up your bookshelf in a single trip as long as you're willing to drop a couple of dollars. This review is a bit all over the place but for everything pop culture of yesterday, today, and tomorrow 2nd & Charles is a must visit for any collector longing for that one more game book, movie, comic, or anime themed umbrella to clutter your room or just someone looking to find some neat stuff at sort of fair prices. All in all im gonna recommend this place to anyone i can and it worth at least stopping in to browse for an...
Read moreThis place is awesome! It's like if Barnes & Noble got together with FYE / Suncoast/Tower Records/ Sam Goody/Funcoland and was done by Borders! They have everything you can think of from music, movies, TV shows, Anime collectibles, games, even vinyl records and vinyl record players! I even found a gift for my fiance who is a huge Harry Potter fan! We were in the area celebrating the last day of my bachelor party and I wanted to check out the store. I wanted to get a small token of appreciation for my fiancé for when I came back home. They have a huge selection of all different types of items even video games and guitars on the wall! If I have any money left over after the wedding I will definitely be returning to this awesomely nostalgic Time Capsule of a store! The staff is also very kind and courteous that I interacted with ❤️ the one thing I will mention is because they have a wide selection of rare items you will pay a premium for a lot of these things because they are hard to find, however that does not mean they can't be had for a good price or you can't find things in the store on sale because I did notice a lot of things on sale. However, even with the sale prices you are essentially paying a premium for the convenience of finding everything you could want at this Hidden Gem of rare collectibles in just about every medium conceivable. Insert mind-blowing Emoji three times as I went wow this place is amazing I can't believe they have that! Quite a few...
