PARVO/MANGE/WORMS AND WORSE!!!!!!
Okay. Let me get started on this very sad story. My lab, Marley, recently passed away from a tumor and I’ve had him since a puppy. It took me awhile to get over his passing, but when I was over it I began to look for a new dog. I stumbled across some puppies when I went into the shelter. It felt like it was meant to be since the puppies had just been brought it and they were labs!! I quickly adopted one, took her home and named her Baby. When I brought her home she started acting strange and wasn’t playful like normal puppies should be. She wouldn’t eat or drink. Maybe 3 days after I got her she started pooping liquid, it almost looked like throw up. She would also salivate, a lot and would run and hide from me. She then started throwing up along with the diarrhea. (Keep in kind she was not eating or drinking this whole time). Blood started appearing in the poop and throw up... a lot of blood. Turns out she had parvo.. and on the way back to the shelter to get her help a worm came out of her rear end. When we got to the shelter they told me since the puppies came from a home they weren’t checked or quarantined before they were adopted out... which is really careless and inconsiderate. I talked to the associates there and they said if Baby didnt make it they would let me pick another dog and waive the adoption fee. Charlie (an associate there) was updating me on the condition of Baby and told me she passed away. She was talking to Danielle (a board member) about next steps on picking a new dog. Charlie said she talked to Danielle and Danielle agreed to give me a puppy from the same litter with a waived adoption fee. When I asked again a couple weeks later on the puppies condition they told me the puppies also had MANGE!! After waiting for about a month and a half for the condition of the puppies to get better I messaged the shelter once again and got a response from a person that I had not spoken to before and told me that she spoke to Danielle, and that nothing was ever mentioned to her about a waived adoption fee and that she did not agree to it. They do not know how to communicate with each other especially when they have just given a dying puppy to an already hurting/grieving family that just lost a long time pet. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone!!!...
Read moreIf I could give this place zero stars I would. We submitted an application for a dog after calling to confirm their process. It was my understanding that they would review applications for puppies and set up meet and greets based on the best fit for the animal. We received an email stating they wanted to set up a meet and greet. My application through petfinder.com was very detailed and explained I was out of state but willing to drive. When I called I explained I did not want to get an appointment and come down to possibly have the dog adopted before I got there. Through the emails to set up the appointment I expressed being flexible and that I would be there whenever I NEEDED to be there. They gave me an option of when I could be there so instead of 10 am I picked 11 am and never thought that would cause me to not have my meet and greet. We got up at 5am and drove the 5 plus hours down to Lemoore and when I walked into the office they said tater was adopted and they sent an email 15 minutes ago. We feel that they did not stick to the process they explained to us and perhaps this dog was given to a friend or acquaintance that has been looking for a cute cuddly puppy of their own. After I walked out of the office the manager came out and offered to let us meet 2 other dogs. The girl who was fostering the dogs told me they were not spayed yet and we couldn't take them home... then the manager told me they were spayed the day before and we could take them home. It felt very unorganized and like they were scrambling to cover for their mistake. We decided we did not want to take these dogs home and after thinking about it... if the goal is to match the animal to the best family for them why would you just offer up dogs to us that we did not apply for. Why would you tell me your process is to review interest cards and set up meet and greets based on the best match. I wish Tater good luck and hope he has a happy life either way. I also hope that no one else ever has to experience this traumatic process that we went through with our 5 year old daughter in tow. We understand the adoption was not guaranteed but expected it to be because when we met there was not a match. Not that someone was scheduled...
Read moreI am surprised and disheartened by the review of Angie from three months ago. Angie, did you expect to get your pet from Pampered Pooches on Rodeo Drive? This is a facility that rescues animals who otherwise would not have a chance. They feed, care for, and provide medical care for these animals with limited resources. They constantly have animals coming in with numerous problems, abuse, neglect, mange, malnutrition, and yes, possibly even fleas, and they provide the best care because they honestly do care. Would you rather pay several hundred dollars for an animal from a puppy mill who has numerous problems from neglect, abuse and inbreeding that could cost a fortune to fix and/or maintain? I have visited the SPCA in Lemoore and found nothing but love and devotion to each and every animal and a complete desire to find a deserving home for each and every one. I did get an adorable dog from another SPCA. I picked him up from the vet as he was being treated for kennel cough. I did have to take him back to the vet for more medication for his kennel cough before he recovered. But he is an adorable, healthy, somewhat spoiled now, member of our family. I am only grateful that this adorable dog was given to them so I could embrace him into our family. SPCA gives these animals a chance. The families that adopt the pet accept the responsibility of ongoing care and reap the rewards of an animal who will love them unconditionally. Step back and think for a minute. If not for SPCA, where would this animal be? Abused? Neglected? Dead? Would that be preferable to you suffering the inconvenience of fleas? And if you have a dog in your home, don't expect this to be the only time you have to deal with fleas!! A last thought, if you think that the beautiful animals at SPCA deserve better than to be afflicted with fleas, stop wasting your time on a nasty review, set your computer down and go to the SPCA and volunteer your time to care for, bathe, walk and yes, deflea, the numerous animals still waiting for loving homes. Or just send a donation, much more productive don't you think?! And I am sure the volunteers and animals would appreciate that so much more than...
