Serenity Massage Spa — Local services in Hapeville

I don’t even want to give this place one star because the disgust I feel for them is past unbearable. I had to literally calm down before I wrote this review. I went into this establishment on yesterday 06/04 to get a massage. First off I got a side eye when I walked in and no one really spoke so that should have been a red flag but I stayed. I got the 60 min for $80 and paid for it. Theirs a $3 fee for a card transaction so in the tip section I wrote $7 to take it to $90. Mind you I have $100 in $1 bills in my fanny pack, but I didn’t think I had to say anything about that. I sign the receipt and the clerk looks at the recipt and then looks at me and say $7? I said excuse me? She then says the card fee doesn’t go to me your massage is $80 and you only put $7 in the tip section. I just stood there and let that register for a few seconds because I couldn’t believe this was happening and that she even said this. I told her does it matter?! I’m here for a service and you don’t know what I was going to give you afterwards. She then puts the receipt down on the desk and passively says come on. Not follow me, not I’ll be happy to help you, how’s your day been, NOTHING!!! I spazzed out at that point! I told her that I don’t want your services amongst calling her rude and disrespectful! Then another lady comes out and ask what’s going on and I tell her, they start talking in their language and laughed in my face! To add insult to injury and continued to laugh while I was asking them what was funny.

I don’t recommend this place to anyone!! My mother was just put in a nursing facility and I have been stressed and depressed about her situation with her living so far from me and I went to this place in order to get some solace and peace and they literally berated me and tried to make a fool out of me not even knowing who I am. They are racist, rude, disrespectful, and VERY untactful. If she would have played her cards right I definitely would have easily given her $50 just for making me feel better. I’ve never heard of tipping ANYONE before the service is rendered. If you are someone of color.....

I can excuse a lot of things - language barriers, higher prices because we’re closer to the airport etc.

What I cannot excuse is multiple interruptions during the massage and leaving me exposed. 3 times the massage therapist left the room, once to answer the front door, once to answer the phone and another to chat with another therapist. All 3 times left with the door open and me exposed on the table.

A 4th time a therapist just walks into the room and starts chatting with her for another few minutes

Great massage! Sometimes I’m hesitant to try a place for a massage. Most times I end up left feeling less than satisfied. I took a chance due to sore muscles and just needed to feel relaxed after a tiring week. They had availability for both my husband and I, so we took the chance.
