New to the area.the food was ok. Portions could be a little better but flavoring all was pretty good I have to admit. I love dressing and it has a good taste and I asked for the catfish to be fried a little hard because it said the catfish was going to be tender I don't like my fish soft but they fried it perfect. I got to give it to them. Where this place lacks is customer service and maybe even a little common sense. I read some of the other reviews to make sure I wasn't being overlysensitive but no I wasn't. The main thing that I saw and it affected me personally was first of all no organization and then you blame the customer. Here's what I'm talking about. First time person in there like myself you have one sign up that says pick up order here. I had no idea that evidently meant other things as well. I asked a girl behind the counter who was standing across from the grill where do I order and she said something very softly and without feeling and she pointed with her head. And I didn't know if she was talking about place your order at the bar or what. So there was a another customer waiting on her order and I asked her are you in line and she said no because she had already ordered. So finally I saw the woman who was bagging as well as taking the orders came out and started telling everybody look at the menu, have your order ready and leave the aisle clear. Okay so I figured out what was going on. Well there were about four people in front of me who came in together and I was alone. So the four people moved up to the counter after the people in front of them had left, and at the counter there was plenty of space behind them where I would not be crowding them or standing close so I moved up because there was a line behind me. This man behind the counter I'm assuming he was the owner asked me are you with them? And I said no and then he just bluntly said and without feeling "well step back there. Okay I figured out why he said that after the fact because where I was attending is s where people walk up to pick up their orders. Fine, I'm ok with that. but It was the choice of words and literally the tone as if I'm supposed to know this. there's a way to say stuff and i believe in talking to people a certain type way especially when you want their money. Here's a novel simple and genius idea so you won't have to tell people all the time to wait back or where to order and come across as rude. put up a more specific sign that says wait here or wait to be called something like that and please don't block the aisle. As a customer you're not thinking about that type of thing when you walk into a new place. you just want figure out what you want.. to get your order you just want to eat. Why do you want your customer confused when they walk into your place? Work on your customer service and try to make the process easier.and in the meantime I'll think about whether or not I'm going to return. But you probably missed a regular dedicated Sunday customer who could have brought...
Read moreCame to eat on a Friday afternoon around 4:30pm. There were several people in there eating (a few Delta Airlines employees and others), and then two or three waitstaff and a bartender.
The waitress was great at first. Very warm, made some recommendations, brought us samples to taste the food to help us decide on what we wanted to eat. I’ll admit, we were talking and a bit distracted but when we were finally ready to order, we couldn’t find her.
The sample cornbread stuffing was super. The cabbage was a little too salty for me. I ordered the turkey wing which was really tender, cornbread stuffing and a side of broccoli. I should’ve told her not to smother my food with gravy. It was too salty and ruined the meal for me.
The time between putting in our order and receiving our food felt like forever.
Even though we sat down and dined in, we received our food in takeout containers and a 10% packaging fee was added to the bills.
Then, seemingly after 5:30pm-ish, all the loud talking commenced. It’s like the place transitioned from a decent place where airport employees eat to something else. We moved from inside seating to the outdoor seating in hopes to escape the loud talking. It was okay outside at first but then some lady, maybe an employee on break, was on the phone talking ridiculously loud, telling all her business, using every profane word she’s ever heard. I looked back at her to give her a clue but she couldn’t care less.
By this time the waitress did not check on us at all and we were beginning to melt from the heat. When she did come out she brought us a pitcher of water and adjusted an umbrella at the other table so that it would provide SOME shade. I guess she figured we’d gone out there so that’s what we signed up for—heat and sun.
Anyway, she brought the checks, we paid and left. Overall, the food was salty and the environment was loud. The service was good, for the most part. My bill was $33 with tip. For soul food? 👎
Took home some peach cobbler. It was super sweet.
This is definitely southern cooking—with a side of diabetes and high...
Read moreSome of the BEST soul food I've had anywhere. We wanted to try everything and ended up getting too much, of course, but we were filling up before a flight so it worked perfectly. There were four of us and we ended up having fried chicken, catfish, smothered turkey wing and dressing, and the sliders. Plus, on the side, we had mac and cheese, collard greens, deviled eggs, fries and fried okra. We shared a piece of sweet potato pie for dessert. Firstly, everything was delicious. My husband loved the greens so much that he's seriously considered bringing some on the plane home, but I talked him out of it since we wouldn't be home for over 8 hours!! And he's talked about them at least twice since we got home last night. Our second favorite was the smothered turkey wing and dressing. The meat fell off the bone and the dressing was absolutely outstanding. The catfish and fried chicken were top notch and I have to say their fried okra was as good as I've had anywhere. Super crunchy and really flavorful, but just the right amount of breading. We finished with the best sweet potato pie I've ever had. I've had sweet potato pie many times and typically tastes like a denser pumpkin pie but I also don't like a pumpkin pie or sweet potato pie that's too heavily spiced especially with cloves/nutmeg. This pie was perfect. You KNEW you were eating sweet potatoes and it was so good and not overpowered by spices. Not sure when we'll be back to Atlanta, but we will plan it so this is our first stop when we land next time! Sorry, no photos though. We were too hungry and dove...
