My first experience here when I got my tattoo was great. However, after a couple years I decided to schedule an appointment for a touch-up. I called the studio to schedule an appointment and was told I had to message Jake on Facebook - not the business page - but his personal profile. I heard the person over the phone literally ask Jake directly if I could schedule an appointment while on the phone or message the business page (as I did the first time) and I heard him say, "no, she has to message my personal page." That's super professional making your clients jump through a bunch of hoops to even schedule an appointment. I messaged him directly and after several messages back and forth and one or two days of not even hearing anything back after the conversation was already started, we finally scheduled an appointment. Then, when I showed up to the appointment (confirmed at 10:00 a.m. on a Saturday) he never showed up. We waited an hour and a half in the parking lot and no one was even there. The studio is supposed to open at 11:00 a.m., so I thought maybe he accidentally typed 10:00 a.m. when he actually meant 11, but by 11:30 a.m. there was still no one at the studio. Extremely unprofessional and embarrassing. I messaged him day of to check in and he never responded. He has since seen my message and didn't even have the professional decency to respond. One of the most unprofessional businesses I've ever interacted with. Save yourself time and money and just go somewhere else where the people are professional and actually respect...

My daughter just recently turned 11 and wanted to get her cartilage pierced. I have literally called 25+ tattoo parlors in the past few days asking what the age requirements are. It is absolutely baffling the different responses I got. I've been told 12 years, 14 years, 16 years, no age requirement and finally that it just depends on the parlors preferences. I even had one parlor suggest to me to drive to Indiana to get it done and another suggested doing it myself. Out of all the places I called Trevor from Dark Side Studios Tattoo Parlor is the ONLY one who not only ACCURATELY informed me about the Michigan state law age requirements for body art but also went above and beyond to explain to me the risks you take when trying to do piercings yourself (with store bought piercing guns and etc...).
