We came in on Saturday. The owners husband was working with 1 other employee. He said his wife was working the food truck. The employee making the food had dripping wet gloves. We watched her keep touching her shirt and never change gloves between orders. I had a hair in my food. The brisket was dry. There was wood with paint on it in the smoked wood bin. They also had a cooked brisket that was sitting out, uncovered, on the back counter for several hours with no heat or temp regulation. It took an hour to get our food. The restaurant is dirty. We both got sick later that night and had only eaten there all day. The concept is good, and if you want to succeed, you need to hire better help and either fire or promote your husband to supervisor. He has no business running anything. He is very nice but talks way too much to do anything in a productive manner. He should only be walking around and checking in with guests after someone else served them and be there for backup help. Service in a timely manner should be #1. When he is talking the whole time about bands and whatever else, he isn't making anything or keeping things moving. There was a big line. You won't be able to sustain customers this way. It has promising aspects and the potential to be successful, but only if you go back to customer service basics, clean the place up and practice better hygiene of employees and food. All the food is pre-made, it should fly out. The ice cream shouldn't come with story time, everytime. Getting in and out in under 30min should be completely achievable every time. You shouldn't be dividing your resources between the restaurant and a food truck. Pick 1 and master it until you have a big enough following to hire competent help...
Read moreI hate giving reviews like this and I've contemplated over a week to do so. The atmosphere was charming with a cool rock n roll theme and the person working the counter I'll assume was the owner was very nice But... The food was not good at all. We had a pulled pork grilled cheese and a Detroit style Coney. The pulled pork grilled cheese was extremely soggy and almost to mushy to eat. The honey bourbon BBQ sauce and meat didn't really have any flavor and the portion was very small. It was served with Gordon's wavey chips and what was claimed to be a in house made dip which honestly seemed to be just like a Dean's French onion you'd pick up at the gas station to cure the munchies. The Detroit style Coney. Well if you've ever been to National or Lafayette Coney you'd know that's not even close to an authentic Detroit Coney. It was way too thick and the sauce had a cinnamon flavor more like the Skyline chain in Ohio or a Cincinnati style chili. And for the $23 we paid we don't think there was the quality and value for the money. Unfortunately I didn't save the photos. We did a live review that I'm sure if you want to dig a little you can find in my...
Read moreUnfamiliar with rolled ice cream, the novelty of it intrigued us while visiting Cadillac. We had a questionable impression upon first entering as the environment is somewhat of a hodge podge of decore, and we didn't see any of actual ice cream. Unsure of what to expect, we order just one kiddie size dessert. Big mistake! It was so good that we should have ordered a different flavor for each of us in the regular size.
The process of making the rolled ice cream was intriguing to watch. The owners were friendly and gladly explained the steps and how they got into the business. Not only does the ice cream look spectacular, but it also tastes amazing. We highly recommend the Skeggox Pruden (chocolate and peanut butter).
We will stop again every time we're...
