Happened upon this shop while walking through the port area during a recent cruise. Initially, looked at rings and wanted to check some other options. I do not recall the lady's name who assisted us but all three we saw and/or spoke with were very friendly and helpful.
We ultimately purchased a piece of jewelry from Na Hoku next door. When the transaction was complete, we were told we earned a "free" pearl from the Pearl Factory so went back for that.
By this time, they were quite busy and we waited quite a while before being helped. I selected a sterling silver flower ring setting and as the pearl was being set, the clerk informed us because of what we spent, we earned another free pearl. We did not ask what was the magic amount and we were short on time, but asked how quickly we could get a necklace made. She showed us options for the peal and a chain, we quickly finished the transaction and were on our way to grab lunch before a cruise-ship excursion we booked.
My only real complaint is I wish there were more benches, chairs or stools available. I have foot and back issues and standing so long waiting our turn was difficult.
A positive is both the ring and necklace were presented to us in a nice zippered and snap jewelry case. The cases are much better made than what we have seen in other cruise ports.
The shop is a bit "tourist trap" with the "free" pearls but they do have a nice selection of jewelry. Go earlier in the day to have some shade while shopping and prepare to wait, as they do seem to get...
Read moreI was extremely dissatisfied with my experience at this store. I went to Na Hoku and bought a sterling silver necklace for my mother. I had a pearl with a drilled hole from the previous day at the Pearl Factory and wanted to get a sterling silver pendant for it from the pearl factory after I bought the necklace. I went next door to the Pearl Factory and despite asking four times for sterling silver, the saleslady kept making excuses, insisting that I should get white gold pendants instead. When I asked once more, she claimed the silver pendants would be too big for the pearl. This was frustrating, as I specifically wanted silver because my mother prefers it. I felt pressured to buy overpriced jewelry that I didn't want. Na Hoku, located next door, was a much better experience with pleasant and helpful staff. I highly recommend them, but avoid the Pearl Factory if you don't want to be pressured into buying expensive items. Very disappointing. 05/23/24
Update: On 05/30/24, I emailed the pearl factor customer support because of their response to this review. After emailing I have not received a response in the slightest. It seems their responses to everyone’s review is a gimmick to make them seem helpful, but in reality they have poor customer service and...
Read moreThis was the second time I picked a oyster. The first time was in Las Vegas 2 years ago. Since then I have received so many compliments on that pearl ring, so naturally I had no hesitation to do it again. This experience was so much fun just like it was the first time. However this time Tabatha was our Pearl Diver” and she was FABULOUS! She went above and beyond customer service. She explained that they only use salt water oysters unlike some others that do something similar with fresh water oysters. She then educated us about Pearls. She told us about the difference between fresh water pearls, salt water pearls and south sea pearls. The 3 oysters my husband and I selected we got a huge silver bluish pearl, twin pearls and a golden pearl. We set 3 of the 4 into a necklace and earrings. Tabatha drilled the 4th so that I could put it in an older setting I have. I will definitely return...
