Hungry Honu — Restaurant in Hawaii

I work in medical - came in for my lunch break. Arrived 12:25 pm approximately. I ordered. “Where’s the beef” melt. It took waaaaay too long. A man finally came out and very assuredly handed me a box. He said what it was but it wasn’t clear and I didn’t ask him to clarify cuz I was worried I would be late now. I was headed to my car at 12:50pm. I took a bite in the car… it was a breakfast wrap with eggs and bacon! I headed back to the store. The employee snatched the food box and said what did you order? The server who took my order said that’s yours and pointed to another box on the counter. I was given the box and headed to my car. I clocked in to work at 1:03. I rate the food that took 20+ minutes a one. The meat to focaccia ratio didn’t add up. The name of the sandwich is, “where’s the beef” which is ironic because half way into the sandwich there was just focaccia left. The fresh dill pickles 10/10 but that’s not what I came to the restaurant for. If I was a tourist with nothing to do but wait and sightsee in Kona I would have rated higher in service. I would have given the sand which I didn’t order to the homeless sitting by my car but they took it. All together I won’t be coming back here and I will tell all my coworkers to avoid this place for lunch at all costs due to the wait time and $15 for a sandwich with no meat and mostly bread is not worth it for anyone’s...

Tried this place for the first time. We have always wanted to try here but the paid parking for that area is a turn off for us.

Impressed with the atmosphere. Very clean, cool and spacious. Not busy so very calm and relaxing. They have a coloring area for kids and a selection of different games to play as well.

Food was great, although the focaccia bread was a little chewy (maybe a tad overcooked/warmed up?). Fiancé had the melt & smoothie combo so we could share a smoothie. We chose the Cool Breeze which was yummy. He had the Hearty Breakfast Melt which he enjoyed. I chose Uncle’s Turkey Melt which was yummy. Their home-made dill pickles came with the melts and those were delicious (We both enjoyed it and wish it came with more).

Reason for 4 stars instead of 5, is because of the hours. Only open 4 days out of the week (Closed on weekends 😔) and the days that they are open, they are only open until 2PM. Also, wish chips came with melts or had combos with them. Had to purchase separately and they were about $3.50 per bag...

The Food was good but the employees seemed pretty incompetent to be honest. First the order took pretty long, so multiple takeaways were served before us. I ordered a Cappuccino he first wanted to serve me an espresso with a little dot of milk on top (macchiato). He quickly acknowledged his mistake but the coffee he served me next was just a big jug of coffee with milk. I complained again and the third coffee was the same big jug with one espresso and filled up to re rim with milkfoam out of a milkfoamer that was stiff like a brick. So i drank the espresso out of the mug and all the foam was left behind. They also have a big fancy espresso machine so i dont understand why they couldnt handle such a simple task. After all of this we also got a parking ticket because the employee made a typo in the system. Manager came and fixed it but still i had to run all the way back...
