It has been several years now that all of tge Belk stores have been understaffed so it was no surprise that when I arrived at this Belks store with my grandson that there was only one person running 1 cash register for most of the store. This cashier had a line of customers to ring up, so I knew she would be of no assistance. The reason for my visit was the occasion of buying my 22 year old grandson his first suit coat, vest, 2 dress shirts, 2 dress pants, dress socks to match, a reversible belt & some ties. I interrupted the cashier just long enough to ask to borrow a soft tape measure. That I needed to get measurements on my grandson as we had no idea what sizes of clothing he wore & that I would be buying at least 2 sets of dress clothes & a suit for him. She loaned me a soft tape measure & said she would assist me when she got done ringing up the long line of waiting customers with more showing up as time went buy. So I knew I & my grandson were on our own. There was a large selection of clothes to pick from & a nice dressing area close to the men's section. After 2 and a half hours, I had determined my grandson's sizes, we had picked out a nice dress suit coat, matching vest, 2 pairs of dress pants, 2 dress shirts, a belt, socks & tie. Some time during that 2 and a half hours, the cashier took her well deserved lunch break, returned & rang up more waiting customers, then finally joined us as we picked out the last of the dress shirts. She rang us up. Assisted me with discounting everything with the numerous, 10%, 20%, 40% purchases including my multiple $5 off coupons. In all, my total was $509, which I thought was a very good value for what I received. I had saved about $250 off the regular retail price. So if you wait for the big sales events at Belks, you can make some very good purchases. Just don't expect any help from the overworked, minimal staff...

My husband and I have not shopped together in over a year and were looking forward to a quick trip to this store for my Birthday. There are an excess of registers in the store with no sales associates. Only one register was open and we spent 10 minutes finding that one. We were third in line and waited patiently without any acknowledgement from the sales associate. After the first customer left, the associate told us (now 3 people in line) that we could go to the shoe department because, "I'm not even supposed to be here!' We heard a voice at the Lancome counter so we left the herd tracking to the shoe department and prayed she might check out our one item. She told us we needed to go to the shoe department to be waited on. What? You do realize you're standing in front of register? I said, 'Is there a manager working?" She was super defensive and said, 'I'm a manager. What do you need?" I said, "I just wondered why no one is on the floor to assist with customers and the ones who are visible don't want to help anyone?" No answer. I do give thanks to the lady in the shoe department who checked out every customer in the store during the 30 minute experience. I hope corporate reads these. I know working for the public is hard...I work 4 days week with them. However, I cannot say, "I'm not even supposed to be here" to any of my customers. I would be fired. Good luck to the shoe...
Ā Ā Ā Read more10/15/22 Iāve always liked to get stuff from Belkās. The customer service lines are bad now no sense of urgency. Seems like they are not knowledgeable nor friendly with returns. It took till 2nd day to do my return. Due to new card issue I guess. After the return, I felt like treating myself so I went over to fine jewelry counter. All the time I spent looking, I was told 1 product wasnāt on clearance just in wrong place & both are higher than originally told. Then after waiting for 30 mins a manager finally came and she didnāt know what she was doing. And she asked for my ID I handed it to her then when I extended my hand for it. She tried to put it on counter. I told her I would give this review because my shopping experience was poor. I told her thatās why I donāt like to shop in store. She said you where here yesterday. Every time spoke she had something sassy to say back. Which was not friendly business. I told her because they were not able to do my return yesterday. Her name was Suzanne and I do not recommend Belk because of this ill acting manager. Please do better this my first time ever doing a review negatively on Belk. But the management has gone down. I will make sure I do less...
