5 STARS FOR THE SERVICE FROM SALON RENZ TRYING TO HELP, BUT 1 STAR FOR THEIR STYLIST, MEME. WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT WITH MEME!
I'm new to the DMV area and have been looking for a stylist that I could do business with for years to come. After scrolling through instagram for hours, I found Meme's page and fell in love with her work. She truly has a talent, and I was really excited to work with her. Not only did I follow her on IG and book with her immediately on Styleseat, I also followed her on snapchat to see if she posts her live work. And that's what brings us to her blatant lie. Less than an hour before our scheduled appointment time, she sent me a text, not even called me, but a text, telling me she just had an emergency with her son. Now I'm black. And I know black people. And I'm not dumb. I knew that she made this up from the second I read the text, and I was right. Because what did Snapchat reveal to me not even 15 minutes later? Her SINGING AND DANCING away in her car. But she has an emergency with her son right?
I left work 2 hours early today to come home, take out my current sew-in, take out my braids, wash and deep condition my hair, and be on my way from Virginia to Maryland for my appointment with Meme, and on-time for that matter. When she sent me that text message, I immediately called her salon and informed them that she cancelled on me at the last minute, and asked if they had anyone available to do my hair tonight instead. Graciously, the man on the phone said a woman at the other location could do my hair if I could make it before 8pm, and I accepted the appointment. Then Meme texted me and asked me to reschedule for tomorrow. Still, I loved her work that much that I called the salon back and told them never mind, and that I'd wait until my appointment with Meme tomorrow. I then asked Meme if she could accomodate an earlier appointment. No reply. I asked if she could cancel the styleseat appointment so my card wouldn't be charged. She had minimal understanding of the cancellation policy, and failed to want to do any work on her end of simply going into styleseat and clicking "cancel."
I'm thoroughly disappointed in the professional that Meme portrays herself to be, and as black people, we need to do better. I'm a hard-working woman, and I don't get to make up last-minute lies to my clients just because I don't feel like doing an install that night anymore. I saw the negative reviews on her page, and I should've heeded their warnings. As much as I love Meme's work (from what's posted on instagram), I simply cannot give my hard earned money to someone who fails to value their clients' time. She needs to learn the importance of customer relationships, and develop a reputation of being a reliable stylist. I have since booked with another stylist for tomorrow morning who heard my story and was eager to help remedy this situation. Meme lost business with someone who would've been a loyal customer of hers, and she should honestly be ashamed. Please do your research and go with another stylist ladies, it's just not...
Read moreI wanted to support a local business but I guess sometimes you get what you ask for! I went in for a lace frontal MAINTENANCE. My hair was done professionally for the install but MYKIA was hired to complete a maintenance. The first time she did it.. she used holding spray Got 2 B glued and makeup on the lace.. it was horible.. the second time she used got 2 B glued only. I looked HORRIBLE... I felt horrible.. and the owner MR. HINES made me feel like I was an unvalued first time customer. He ensured me that she went to a class and was trained to so different techniques to lay the frontal. WRONG!! Needless to say.. I Will NEVER ever... EVERRRRRR patronize these pathetic excuse of a black owned business. She is a very sweet girl and it's nothing towards her personally but.. you ma'am did a horrible job and should be...
Read moreMy experience was horrible. I booked a 6:00 am appointment with meme on Sat she didn't get there until after 9 am.. Then when she came in she walked right pass. Then came back and ask if i had an appointment with her. When i sat in the set instead of preparing to wash my hair so she can do it she just started blow drying it out to straighten it. Then said she can't grip my jair cause it's to short. I asked if she had braiding cause she would be able to catch it that way. She was confused. Then told me my best bet was to get a wing and wait a month or two for my hair to grow out a little more. I would never recommend no one to her. Very poor customer service if im paying her why my 15 year old daughter is braiding my hair for you? It was a waste of gas and time for me 45 min drive to Maryland and I live in the...
