The Shops at Iverson — Local services in Hillcrest Heights

There is a genuine effort to revitalize the mall but challenges persist. Mall management is very helpful with providing meeting space for small local organizations. Unfortunately, it has the feel of a ghetto establishment based on low income clientele and certain businesses. By all means, this is not a fair assessment but perception reality is what it is. When trash is strewn around the parking lot, weed aromas are in the air, loitering takes place and 98 percent of clientele are black, this will sadly be the perception. Until moderate to high income professionals of all cultures and demographics start patronizing the mall, it will not reach its potential. This will require mall ownership to attract businesses and clientele that would otherwise settle in DC, Northern Virginia or Montgomery County. Iverson Mall is on the move! When I was a kid, going to Iverson Mall was a treat. The stores were a better quality, the store employees didn't look like me and the customer service was far better. Fast forward almost 40 years later, and Iverson Mall has deteriorated as with most major malls. Gone are the major retailers, the great customer service and the quality of items. However, that is changing, as Iverson Mall is undergoing a major renovation. I'm thrilled and excited to see the retailers that are setting up shop such as Chipotle's, Starbucks, etc. This is long overdue. After attending a number of network meetings from a major player in the economic development of Suitland/Temple Hills area, you will not recognize this area in the coming years. Stay away from The Cheating HAIR ACAMEBY II. The senior staff lie, shake when asked to tell truth, keep in mind there was a signed document with staffs signature and date, she still lied. Agreed yes it was her writing but not sure she signed a hair ACAMEBY slip but she did member me the customer. Long I paid for several services the trainee hair stylist was way over whelmed. F up my hair instructor color over, then same stylist could not blow dry nor curl my hair. Shops closing so now what instructor have a senior take over. Now to late to issue cash refund she already had student cash out. I was given a hair ACAMEBY slip signed by instructor for the amount of cash due back to me would be honored my next visit.
