My fiance and I went into the mens wearhouse for our first time ever to get him a suit for our wedding. We were instantly directed to the custom suit table without question on our needs/wants or preferences. It wasn't until 45 minutes into selecting colors and specifications for his suit that we were informed that we were selecting a custom suit rather than renting. Since we had never purchased or rented a suit we didn't know what we were doing. The Salesman informed us it would only be $100 difference to get a custom suit made. Little did we know that it didn't include shoes, shirt or tie like a rented suit would. It wasn't until we got to the cash register where it read almost $700 the we were NOT getting the $349 "deal" we thought we were getting. Also while the salesman was finishing up he sent us over to speak with the rental suit salesman where he told us the cost for our 6 groomsmen to rent a suit would be $249 each which we thought was pricey considering multiple people told us to go to mens wearhouse because its the cheapest to rent. There were NO discounts or deals offered at that time. After leaving feeling very uncomfortable with our shopping experience I decided to consult a couple friends about what had happened many agreed that I should call and complain/explain what had happened and see if there was anything that could be done. I did that and I spoke with a manager. She was able to offer many discounts and even explained how many things were missed in our shopping experience, including a difference of $70 for our groomsmen rentals, and a credit of $400 in store that my fiance would receive since we spent so much. I appreciated all of that but was also frustrated that if I hadn't called I wouldn't have got any of that. When I thought the experience was going better finally my fiance and I went to pick up his suit and get our discounts honored this past weekend. When I mentioned all of these things to the salesmen and even the manager I spoke with on the phone I was looked at and talked to like I was crazy. It was eventually resolved and we were helped properly. AGAIN leaving feeling uncomfortable I called back today to ask for the manager to email so I had proof in writing that my fiance would get the $400 credit in store two weeks before the wedding and she informed me that its "complicated" and she has to make some adjustments in the computer to make this happen. She explained since we didn't reserve vests for our groomsmen then technically we don't get the $400 credit but she would change it in the computer for us... so AGAIN if I hadn't called for this we would find out later that we wouldn't get what we were told.... I clearly feel strongly about this whole experience. I NEVER take time to 1.leave a review and 2. leave a long explained review. I just don't want another person to experience this and spend hundreds more than they need to. Especially because weddings are already expensive enough. So just be aware when you go into this mens wearhouse that you may in fact be fooled...
Read moreWe went in to find a suit for my fiancee for our wedding end of August. The woman that helped us was nice but she didn’t fully listen to our requests. We told her our ceremony was outdoors in August and she tried to upsell us a satin dress jacket that had ZERO breathability. She also brought him the wrong sizes, he is size 44 and she brought him size 36 as well as shirts that were three sizes too small. Completely off on measurements at first. Finally, we nailed down his suit and we loved it! After spending nearly $800, she forgets to push a button to finalize transaction and condescendingly looks at us and says, “your card isn’t going through.” She then clicks a button and it goes through and she apologizes. My future sister in law was with us luckily, and when the saleswoman handed me the suit my SIL asked if it was pressed. The woman reluctantly said no, didn’t offer to press, we had to ask to press an $800 grooms suit…..
Now it was time to fit his brother for a suit. We told her multiple times it was a rental. He is a bigger guy. She spent an hour finding options that matched the grooms suit. She landed on pants that were a completely different shade of navy blue than the jacket she found for him. We said absolutely not, that looks awful can we order the pants in the same color as jacket? Of course we can she says. Why wasn’t that suggested? She didn’t seem to really care. Then when I asked about rental alterations she visibly is annoyed and says I’m sorry I didn’t realize you wanted rental. There’s only specific options for that, here’s this lady she will help you. All in all, she didn’t really listen too well and for the amount of money we spent we should’ve received a pressed suit without having to feel like we’re nagging her for it. Maybe it was an off day, I don’t mean to write a scathing review by any means but the experience left a lot to be desired according to multiple sources that have had amazing...
Read moreI'm sharing this experience as someone whose family has gone to Men's Warehouse 4-5 times in the past 2 years. The. customer service when getting fitted is fine. The customer service when you're about to buy/have paid and request changes is the worst I have ever seen.
Experience 1: A suit I picked up did not come with the zipped up bag and instead with a cheap plastic covering. I asked them about it and they said they ran out. I asked if I could come back when they were in stock and they acted like I was crazy. I think if I drop a couple hundred dollars on a suit, I deserve to have the bag included, one that will PROTECT the suit. I wasn't in the mood to argue, but I felt extremely disrespected. They didn't even ask me about it, I had to personally point it out and they were actively dissuading me from this request.
Experience 2: I went to buy some dress pants, and once we were fitted, they needed to be hemmed. This was a smaller experience but basically we determined the size the pants needed to be hemmed and when we returned, they had barely even reached the amount we wanted hemmed. This wasn't as bad, but again, the customer service acted like we were crazy for wanting it the right size.
Experience 3: This happened to one of my family members and was another experience with hemming pants but worse. Instead of hemming the pants, they FOLDED the pant leg within itself and called that hemming. My family member felt insulted, like she wouldn't noticed it. It looked terrible and they were very annoyed.
In short, while I do enjoy the style and the experience when deciding what to buy, once you've paid it's like they want you out of the store ASAP. I would highly recommend instead going to an actual tailor and not whatever they have going on here. When you are paying a pretty penny for the clothes you're buying, the customer service should be top notch. Not rushing you out with a...
