Wow, just wow, in fact surreal... I just went to Target and for the first time, self checkout was the only option!!! I usually don't use it because I do not like the fact that this type of automation, is going to eliminate so many jobs. But that wasn't all!
First of all, I went looking for an artificial Christmas tree, ponderosa pine, 7 feet, and slim, box 8, the display sign read. I looked underneath the display, where the boxes were and no boxes with the number 8 on them. So I asked an employee if they had any in a stock room. Employee says, " well I know we have the 4 foot ones in back but I don't know if we have the 7 foot ones." " Ok, well, do you suppose you could maybe check for me, I want to buy this one," I said. "Well, I'm kind of busy with this order," he answered. " It might take me awhile to check." "Never mind." I said.
So I was going to buy some little packages of battery operated micro lights. I proceed to the front of the store and there are only self check-out, no cashiers. Reluctantly, I use one, it gets "stuck." A light is flashing that says an employee will be there "shortly." Nobody comes... Seriously. So the customer service desk is not too far away. I raise my voice kinda high and say, "can anyone help me over here,,, anyone, anyone. ." I raise my voice higher, and a couple of employees glance my way and go back to what they are doing. At this point I am literally dumfounded... " Or,, I can leave the store and not buy anything, I say loudly," which prompts someone to begin walking over towards me. " Forget it," I say, "I'm not gonna buy anything." This is ridiculous, and with that I left! Perhaps they thought I was a crazy old lady for wanting customer service...
I am still in a state...
Read moreMy daughter and I waited by the fitting room for almost 15 minutes after ringing the bell, and no one ever came. Eventually, we had to approach another employee and ask them to find someone. A woman who seemed to be a manager, based on how she was dressed, finally came over — only to tell us the fitting rooms were closed because they didn’t have anyone available to staff them.
She apologized and then added, “We have a good return policy.” I’m not sure what the intention behind that comment was — maybe to ease our frustration — but it honestly just made things worse. That is not good customer service.
This isn’t a small local shop — it’s Target, a major retail chain. How can there be no one available to cover the fitting rooms? And then to tell customers to just buy the clothes and return them later? You don’t know if that person can afford to do that. You don’t know if they need the clothing right away. That’s not how you resolve the situation.
I understand that retail stores are dealing with many issues right now, including theft, and that maybe someone needs to be present at all times in that area. But that’s something Target should fix internally. Customers shouldn’t have to pay the price for staffing or loss-prevention challenges — especially not when they’ve chosen to spend their money in your store, where prices aren’t exactly the lowest.
I shop at Target often, but today’s experience was disappointing and felt disrespectful. I hope this feedback is...
Read moreThis is absolutely ridiculous. I came in with my family to do some Black Friday shopping and look at the deals and my dad was looking at the video games and he was trying to ask one of the employees about the games and there was a group of 4 employees just talking loudly not listening to my dad trying to ask for help. They kept talking about the bar they worked at. He kept trying to get their attention but they were just huddled in a group talking blocking the aisle as well so we had a hard time even getting by. We tried to get by and they didn’t even move when we said excuse us. I’m not one to usually complain. The workers at the register were amazing and sweet. The lady working the self checkout was so helpful. But the kids working in the electronics completely ruined our experienced. We would purchased more games and other stuff if they even bothered to help and do their damn job. Target get new employees that actually work for their paycheck, not just sit around and gossip and not help out any of the customers. But Michelle at the self check out you were completely helpful. THANKS MICHELLE SHE...
