UPDATE AS OF 4/3 - I talked to Groupon and got a refund for my forfeited voucher. I was also able to find another company to service me before my wedding this weekend. • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •

Unfortunately, this company was not a good fit for me.

I met Mollie a few months ago, as I needed a makeup artist quickly for a photoshoot and she was recommended to me. After my photoshoot, I booked a wedding trial with her. I was pretty pleased and decided to book her.

My first time in the studio was for my trial - first impressions: this place is super cozy, well decorated and I love all of the mermaid touches.

I ended up buying a Groupon for 3 facials, which I was so excited to use!

The second time I came to Sirena was for my very first facial, which happened to be with Mollie. The facial was great and Mollie recommended a SkinScript cleanser and moisturizer to prep my skin for the wedding.

After my first facial, I booked an appointment for another one, also with Mollie. The day of, I get a message from Mollie asking if I was going to come to my appointment- I totally mixed up the times and felt awful! I asked if 30mins was enough time for a facial and she said it would honestly be a waste of my Groupon and she suggested to re-book, so that's what I did.

My next booking was with Madison. I got out of work at 430, grabbed dinner and figured I'd make it there with a few minutes to spare before my 630 appointment... but there were two accidents on I-93, coming from Somerville. I messaged Madison a half hour (before my scheduled time) and asked if we could change the time to 7pm instead. She said yes. When I got there, I apologized several times and she told me it was seriously okay! She was so sweet and highly knowledgeable.

Over the next few weeks, Mollie and I weren't really seeing eye-to-eye (due to communication issues that were misinterpreted along the way). So, I ended up finding another makeup artist who suited my needs a bit better and I canceled on Mollie. I do admit that Mollie did try and rectify the situation, but then we started arguing over the contract and I think it was just clear that we both move on, as we were not a good fit.

On Friday, 3/29, Taryn sent me an email saying that she was aware of the altercations between me and Mollie, and that because I was late for two sessions (and with the previous altercations with Mollie), I was no longer welcome to Sirena (and that my last Groupon would be revoked). However, (on my end) the fine print says nothing about the company being able to forfeit your voucher due to tardiness... maybe this is Groupon's mistake and they needed to update their terms and conditions before allowing people to buy? I dont know.

Regardless... I responded to the email, defending my reasoning for being late and for having to reschedule the second session.

Taryn said that she had to protect her business and her employees, which as a business owner myself, I do understand. I also understand that if a client is late, the estheticians do not get paid. However, that was never my intention and I stand behind that fact that my tardiness was not on purpose.

Their facials are awesome, and their services are affordable, which is why it's so unfortunate that I am no longer allowed to be serviced here anymore.

I would say go for it, but maybe keep your wedding services separate from your esthetician, just so you're safe (if any...

Taryn is amazing!!! I found her after looking around - a lot- online. I saw that she does lashes and makeup and I loved how detailed she was in her work. I’ve been there a few times for lashes and to get makeup done- she’s like some type of magician! I feel soooo beautiful when I leave! It’s such an uplifting feeling and I thank you sincerely, Taryn!! I don’t really trust anyone to do my makeup or really anything to my face, but when I saw her work online, I knew she’d be the only person for the job. She is efficient and detailed- so you know she’s good! She did my lashes and my makeup for my wedding and they were ON POINT!!! I showed her pics and told her what I did and didn’t like and she really listened to what I said and did better than I could have imagined. I didn’t want to take it off!!! I truly felt soooo beautiful! My daughter, who does not like makeup on me, shockingly, loved it!Anytime I need anything for the face, or any questions I have, I undoubtedly would turn to Taryn!! It is so easy to book, easy to get to, and a quiet, clean, and serene atmosphere. She’s punctual, knowledgeable, welcoming, and super easy to talk to! Application time flies by cuz you’re just having a good time chatting, getting pretty!! She just does an amazing job!!! I am facials addict. Today was my first appointment with Mollie - and to tell you that I was impressed is just not saying anything. I booked my next appointment right away and am really looking forward to be back. It was the best facial I had in years. Mollie took her time and did a fantastic job. One other thing that pleasantly surprised me is that Mollie hasn't left the room while I had the steam/mask time - I got an outstanding hands and shoulders massage instead of laying there waiting for the process to be completed.
