The search for your hairstyle is often lifelong. From bowl cuts, to the classic part in the middle, to a random flatop style I decided on in the 3rd grade, I went through it all. Later on, the cool kids got those flips on the front, so I too joined the party. I've been partial to short & neat ever since with not much deviation. My main issue with hair is that I don't like combing it. I'm all about waking up, grabbing a few cookies, and scrambling off to work. I do try my best to not look like an absolute slob though. So I wipe the crumbs off my hands & spit into them to give my hair a little pat down. Not great when it comes to my Alfafa cowlick but I'm an idiot when it comes to hair gel so that's pretty much all I have time for. Initially, my barber was a grumpy Super Mario looking guy. He did pretty much what I asked of him. Thing is, you need some style advise & he severely lacked in that department. What he did have more than enough of was a massive stack of Playboy mags he kept to the side. Found those by accident thinking those were hair style mags. Regardless, this old school barber also had this thing where you had to keep your hands on your lap otherwise his huge belly, & perhaps manhood, would lean on your hand & arm rest. So yea, I moved on. Afterwards, there was the guy at the mall I used for years. That is until I no showed once & he canceled all my standing appointments. Fine, moving on. Next was a lady who did it quickly & adequately. Unfortunately, she moved & I lost touch. Then a guy from my pool team showed me his parent's spot & his station. He did a great job but promptly went MIA. Literally no idea if he's alive still. Regardless, my odyssey continued. I discovered D&V when I met Herbert. As a result, I also got to know both Pepe & Cynthia. I met the trio in their original establishment. Their OG shop was truly humble, but the atmosphere was definitely that of a barbershop. It had all of it. Racy jokes, intense politics, & even copious amounts of food & drinks. This barbershop was like a home away from home. D&V has since upgraded tremendously & now have the elegance to go along with their welcoming homestead. Herbert has the pole position. He'll give you an excellent hair cut & put something on his massive TV to enjoy while you relax. He'll have sports, cool music, or funny comics on to keep things chill. Herbert is a great businessman & he'll talk to you about it. You may or may not like his politics, but he's passionate to say the least. Nonetheless, he's one of the best. Cynthia is like going to a spa. I always get a hair cut & shape up my beard. She likes to enjoy her craft & it shows as she takes her time to make sure you're absolutely comfortable. First, she starts off with a relaxing shampoo, then she takes you to her station & asks what you want. I always tell her to choose. She takes a few seconds to run her fingers through my hair & always picks a great look. Makes it hard to decide on who to pick. Pepe is the guy who I just can't say no to though. I've spent my life looking for a man to caress my head. As my hairline recedes, I need those soft luscious carefully manicured hands running through it. I can feel the magic course through my absurdly young almost albino looking hair. I'm way too pale to pull off all these greys, I tell him. He'll smirk & tell me he's going to make a Clooney out of me. So that's my problem with D&V. Three amazing stylists to choose from, but how do you pick from the best of the best? Well, I start with my man with the delicately moisturized hands. You can't just find that anywhere & I assume that's why he's always booked. The reality is, all three stylists are always booked. So you need to login to their website & make sure you do it with a week to spare. Aside from that, make sure you have plenty of time to spend. These people treat you like family. So expect plenty of conversation. It's not really the place to be if you're ever in a rush. You have to stay and absorb the environment. It's above & beyond the best, & that's how I finally found...
