Updated review after multiple visits over the course of 2024 Although my hair looked and felt great after each service, there had consistently been misinformation and poor discussions regarding how much a service costs and why a service is being done. Each time I have gone asking for a single glaze, I have been charged a double glaze. I've been told "that's just standard practice" but no one I know that gets glazes is required to get a double glaze every time. Also, the pricing is so misleading because the fee for using a credit card is basically the cost of an additional service depending on how much your total bill is but nowhere online does it tell you there Is a credit card fee. I was also unsure about clip-in vs k-tip extensions. The staff was very misleading saying how "long lasting" k-tips are and how quick and affordable they are to "put in and reuse". When I called the salon to see how much it would cost to install a bundle of k-tips I was quoted $1,250. I don't know much about the general cost of hair services but that seemed astronomical and ridiculously priced. Friends of mine that frequently get k-tips said this was extremely expensive and unusual. I also wanted to try to learn what color extensions were closest to my hair so I could order clip-ins myself but the staff just kept saying "don't worry we'll figure it out when you come back so I can order them at a discount". I asked multiple times what color they would recommend and that was the continued response. As much as I loved the outcome of my hair and it looked/felt great, the stress of "guestimating" the price and what service will they throw in to charge me additionally was not worth it. I also didn't appreciate the sometimes rude and pushy responses if I declined an additional service or didn't want to sign up for a monthly service discount.

Initial review I cannot put into words how much I LOVE my haircut and balayage with Jay! I feel like a brand new person and absolutely love how my hair turned out. I wanted to try this place out because I read some positive reviews online and was eager to try somewhere new. I was going to purchase a Groupon and I called beforehand to make sure I was purchasing the correct one according to my service. When I called I spoke to the manager who instructed me NOT to purchase the Groupon but instead show the Groupon once there and Moxie would honor the price it says. I went on with making the appt, it was early afternoon when I called and I was told to come at 430 which I found odd because that seems a little late for a full highlight. I get to my appt and everything is fine. I have to say that Marielis was AMAZING, she did a great job and my hair came out exactly how I asked. After washing out the lightener I noticed the manager was getting ready to leave so I called to her to make sure she would charge me like we discussed earlier. When she came over to me she told me they would honor Groupons price BUT the toner - for a lightening service- is not included in that price. I told her that I wasn’t aware and she told me it was in the FINE PRINT on the Groupon which I then pulled up on my phone and asked her to show me where it states toner is extra. It doesn’t. She said “usually it says it in the fine print”. The toner plus their fee for paying with a card was a whopping $93 extra. I Didn’t Expect This When I Booked a Hair Appointment…

Moxie Hoboken is hands down one of the BEST salon experiences I’ve had. From the moment I walked in, I felt like I was stepping into my best friend’s salon—warm, welcoming, and full of good energy. The team vibe is unmatched. Darwin did my hair and absolutely nailed it, and Jackson helped at the beginning too, but honestly? Everyone was ready to jump in and help when needed. That kind of teamwork is so refreshing to see.

The music? Amazing. The energy? Immaculate. The vibes? On point. Every stylist was friendly and genuinely welcoming—not just going through the motions, but making sure I felt comfortable and cared for. Even the other clients had such great energy, which says a lot about the kind of space this is.

One of my favorite parts? Their flexibility. I literally booked two days before and an 8am at that! It’s such a benefit having a salon that offers hours for all kinds of schedules. Life gets busy, and knowing I can rely on Moxie for availability when I need it most is a game-changer.
