Susanna is an incredible designer and dressmaker. She has a great eye for style and fit. Susanna has made me 3 outfits including a fabulous flowy robe/duster and a Nigerian outfit.

Susanna takes custom clothing to another level as she perfectly fits the outfit to your body ensuring that it flatters every inch of your body. She recognizes the good body areas that should be highlighted and problem areas to mask (we all have at least one) to end up with an outfit that brings out the best you can ever look. She does multiple fittings to ensure it fits you perfectly and alters the design if you turn out to not like your original desired design. She will not tell you a lie, she tells it like it is and if she says it’s perfect on you, then expect to get compliments.

Susanna also does incredible alterations to exquisitely designed outfits. I brought a Roberto Cavelli gown that was slightly too small on me to to her. This was an incredible halter neck piece that was made from silk fabric with patterns made from velvet and was originally $8000 that I got on sale for a whooping $795. She was able to very carefully let it out and lift up the halter to allow it perfectly for me. I got so many compliments at the event I wore it to.

Susanna also sells some designer pieces. Susanna recently helped me select a designer piece from the collection she had on sale that she thought would suit me the best for a formal wedding I attended this past weekend (sept 13th 2024). It was a Gabriela Cadena piece. She perfectly altered the dress and I got so many compliments for that dress, I basically broke the internet with it, people loved it so much. Thanks Susanna!! Susanna, I cannot thank you enough for saving my wedding by fixing my dress. You did a fantastic job recreating the sleeves for my wedding dress! You were so compassionate and understanding and went above and beyond to help me with only a little over a week before my big day. You were a true lifesaver and a genuinely amazing human❤️. I ordered my dream dress from another boutique and I had asked to have the dress made sleeveless and two months after ordering my dress, I changed my mind and asked to have the sleeves put back on, to my surprise the owner of the shop told me not a problem but it will cost me $650 dollars. I definitely thought that was extremely expensive, but I really wanted the sleeves back on. I was also told it would be an exact replica of how the original dress was. Well that is not what I received when I went to pick up my dress. The sleeves were at the bottom of the bag but to my surprise they wouldn’t even fit around my arm without pinning them to my sides. I could not lift my arms up, also there was no way for the sleeves to attach to the dress. When I called the store owner she told me oh no, I would have to have them sewn when I go from my fitting so I asked what did I pay $650 dollars for she says that’s just how they do it referring to Demetrio’s the dress designer! To say I was beyond devastated and angry is an understatement and I felt like I had been taken advantage of and ripped off. I also ordered the bow in the back of my dress to be detachable and once again there was no way for it to be attached. I assumed it would’ve had clips on it, but it did not and then once again I was told that would be my responsibility, but I paid extra to make it detachable. I did come to find out later, not only was I one of many woman who were scammed and taken advantage of. I do not recommend this tailor. I went to get a simple dress alteration for my elopement dress (shortened straps, bottom hemming) and she completely ruined my dress. She made the dress straps too short. The cut the dress lining too short. I wish I had read reviews before coming here. Instead of apologizing and offering to reimburse me, she rushed me out of the store and acted like there was nothing wrong with the dress. She didn’t even have the decency to steam my dress for me when I went to pick it up. It was a wrinkly mess. She said she’d add boning to the side of my dress, charged me for it, but didn’t include it. She also convinced me to buy a push up bra, which did not work with my dress because the dress did not cover the bra properly, as well as spanx for an additional $100. She then ruined the bra by cutting it, which did not work with my satin dress. She only accepted cash, which I gladly paid since it was a rush job (she had two weeks to make alterations). I didn’t even bother trying to get a refund.

To top it off, I saw a small roach in her dirty and disorganized salon as I left.

To clarify, I was eloping and leaving in a few days. So I took the dress because I did not know if I’d be able to find another dress in time. Luckily, I did.

I had to panic order a new dress and pay for alterations on that. If you need an alterations specialist, please go to Alterations Room on 1 Newark St - much cleaner and more organized alterations specialist who was able to see me on short notice and RUSHED my dress within 24 hours, for less than what I paid for...
