Twice had to talk a manager and thought the manager was nice and fair. However the cashiers can be unfriendly. I was happy for the cashiers when I first went to an Aldi's and realize the cashier got a break at Aldi's from standing, however I didn't realize at the time this meant that the cashiers would get lazy. Apparently the cashiers at this Aldi's do not care if they damage your food while checking you out. Yesterday while one of the cashiers was checking me out I realize she was talking to another employee and wasn't being careful about how hard she was setting food down in my cart or where she was setting the food down. I asked her to please not smoosh my bananas. She got irate and kept saying that is what they do there. I explained that I was buying new food and I don't want it ruined before walking out the door. She said and I quote she has "to keep things moving along." as she waved her hand along. Right there she just admitted she did not care about damaging my food as long as she was "moving things along." Her concern was checking out the customer as fast as she could without regard to damaging the food the customer is buying. Then she kept over and over and over again saying you can go back and get new bananas in a snotty way. She wouldn't stop saying it. She got nasty and weird. I just didn't want my bananas banged up. Then another time I was this Aldi's there was a long line for the cashier so they called up another employee to check out people. They told some of us to wait in line at another register but no one was there. We waited and waited and waited. No one showed up. After awhile someone finally did come. If I stayed in the original line I would have checked out sooner and been putting my groceries away already in my car as I noticed who was in front of me in that line. I told the cashier to only tell people to get in line once the cashier was there. That I could have been checked out already had I stayed in the original line. Again I was met with the explanation of that is not the way we do it. He said we tell people to get in line first and wait for the cashier to show up. They are not concerned if you wait longer by their methods. The cashier gets to show up whenever they want. At this Aldi's the customers aren't treated very well and come with an bad attitude. If I can I won't be stopping at this Aldi's. Not worth being...
Read moreI visit this Aldi location a lot, but I do not see myself returning. Our cashier, Courtney, was extremely rude to us and other customers. Based on her tone of voice and body language with the customers before us, she was already in a bad mood when we entered the checkout line. Moving our items forward on the belt so that other customers could put them down seemed to set her off even more. She got even angrier because we got a paper bag instead of plastic, meaning that she had to edit the transaction. She snatched the money from my mother and slammed the lid of the cash register down after she made the changer. We were in awe of the situation and talked about what had just went down as we bagged our items, which is when she turned and yelled “Got a problem!?” I responded by telling her that she was rude to us and she began to get louder, yelling “How??” and saying “You can leave NOW!” This is when I asked for her name and she responded “Courtney!” In case that was a fake name, I’ll describe her as a middle aged woman with short blonde hair.
There are too many other grocery stores in the Pittsburgh area for us to put up with being treated this way. Up until now, I’ve had nothing but positive experiences at Aldi. I have absolutely no intention on returning to any Aldi location until this situation is addressed and the employee is held accountable for...
Read moreCleaner than most Aldis.... I'm updating my 5 star review and changing it to 2 stars. Yes their prices are good and the store is clean. But I am over the rude and rushed cashiers.
I brought in a large canvas tote that fills the entire cart because, as we all know, bags are extra. The cashier could easily see the giant black tote. And, yet, she still quickly threw all my groceries into an empty cart. When I said, Wait! Wait! Please, wait!, she ignored me. So I said, I really hate that you guys are forced to rush so much. She answered, If we don't rush you'd pay more groceries.
Are you freaking kidding me? It would have slowed her down by 20 seconds to wait for me to move my cart closer to her. And, by the way, there was no one in line behind me. The store was practically empty.
I get it that they try to save money every way possible. No bags. No displays. Pay to use a cart. But I draw the line at rudeness. Next time I'll have to get fiesty. Or maybe just go back to...
