I visited the store today for the first time to purchase 7 dozen live shrimp & tackle. I was impressed and liked how organized the store is, variety of merchandise they carry is great and the good prices. Here’s what went wrong .. I was given my bait bucket back with supposedly the 7 dozen shrimp(bucket water was super murky brown so I couldn’t see what was in there yet I assumed most were alive) & was told “I put some (dead) extra ones in there, you can use as chum”, first dead shrimp in a live—well kills or shortens the life of the live ones. Two hours of fishing & all I had left were like 4 dozen of dead soggy shrimp. When I decide to empty the murky water out of the bucket I notice all dead. The water Picture below is like a dozen. I only used about 3 dozen that were alive. I’ve been buying live shrimp for over 20 years at other places and this has never happened. Even hours later in a hot summer day the shrimp stay alive. Temperature outside was around 80F and o have large filter bubble. I assume maybe part of the live 7 dozen were given dead. Very disappointed & respectfully yours. Thank you.

Update: 4/26/24 Thx for the advice and time! See new pick posted below. Got my PB Peqcock today thanks to Don’s! 6/30/23 Headed home to SC from the Keys and google map searched live bait while in homestead and found Don’s. What a find! I knew I needed shiners to try and catch a peacock bass, but they set me up with the right hooks and sent me to a good place to try. Mission completed thanks to the guys at Don’s Bait and Tackle!

Ash is so nice he is very interactive, and he also speaks Spanish for assistance if needed. It is such a cool bait shop they have a lot of options for bait and a lot of other items you can purchase. Chris is also available if you need assistance. They have such great energy and dope to talk to also. It's definitely a place people that fish need to visit.

EXCELLENT service, extremely friendly, they always have the largest live shrimp, some people here say it's pricy, I look at it like this when that monster snapper, huge sail fish, tarpon, grouper or what ever hits your line, do you really want to rely on that rod you got at Walmart on sale and let that monster get away, yeah me either, for real fisher men quality and a good day out at sea is priceless, the friendly service non rushed or pressured service is what keeps me coming back over and over great place...

I go snapper fishing in the Keys once or twice a month. Among the half dozen bait shops I go to, Don's Bait and Tackle is the best. Their live shrimps are usually on the large side and freshly alive. That directly translates to better fishing results. So today, when they were unloading the shrimps, we decided to wait for half an hour to get the shrimps. It paid off very well in the end -- we hooked at least a dozen snappers within an hour; more than half are of decent size. Thanks for the nice shrimps (and the...
