After spending a glorious day on Biscayne Bay, we were looking forward to a delicious Thai dinner at a local restaurant. When one of the dishes came out, my wife took her first bite and noticed an awful, odd taste. She was not sure if it was the dish or the meat so she asked our daughter to take a taste and weigh in. Our daughter promptly spit the meat out and said “it tastes like dog food”. I was then asked to taste it and refused. Instead, I smelled the meat and it had an awful, pungent odor - a clear indication that the meat was spoiled or rancid. I called our waitress over and explained to her that I was very sorry but the dish was inedible. She was polite, apologized, and asked if there was anything else she could get us. At this point, my wife was not comfortable eating anything else from the restaurant, and politely declined. When the bill came, we were changed for the inedible dish that we sent back. When we called the waitress over to ask her to please remove the charge for the dish that we sent back, she told us that it was “against their policy” and that she was not authorized to remove anything from the bills. She told us that we declined a replacement dish so that was why she charged us for the dish that we sent back. We asked to see the owner or manager because we did not think that this was fair or reasonable (nor did she tell us about this ridiculous, unique policy). The owner came over and we explained what had happened. She asked us if we ever had the dish before. We told her we were tourists visiting South Florida from the NorthEast and that we eat Thai food quite frequently and are used to the complex tastes and flavors and this was a situation of rancid or spoiled meat. She insisted this was not possible because she “served the dish to someone else earlier and they ate the whole thing”. I asked her if she anyone in the kitchen smelled or tasted the dish we sent back to determine if the meat was rancid or spoiled. She said no and then reiterated with certainty that there was nothing wrong with the dish or meat. I asked her if she really thought that we went through this whole charade to beat them out of $17.00? WOW!!! These folks failed Customer Service 101 ! If they somehow have a kitchen and food handling practices that ensure with 100% accuracy that they NEVER experience raw food quality degradation, they should close the restaurant and open a Food Safety Academy. But if they are like 99% of all worldwide restaurants, they need to learn that sometimes, raw ingredients do spoil and unfortunately end up in a dish and when a paying customer complains about an inedible dish and sends it back, they should respect that customer and remove the items from the bills. DO NOT EAT AT...
Read moreEdit: You know their food will never get better when the owner argues with a customer over their bad experience, rather than take an honest look at their shortcomings and try to address the issues with their restaurant. This explains the bad food. Arrogant and defensive owner doesn’t care.
TL;DR: Food tastes like everyone there hates their job.
If you’ve ever wanted a real life Kitchen Nightmares experience this is your place! Not sure how it’s possible to ruin every dish but these guys nailed it.
The chicken pieces in the Tom Kha Ghai soup were tough slabs of bird leather fit for shoe soles, but they couldn’t be bothered to cook the authentic Thai Cremini mushrooms the cook tossed in there.
Despite assurances from the waitress, do yourself a favor and don’t order the Volcano with shrimp. What was I thinking… one of the shrimps must have been fished out from under the fridge because it was rotten. A few pieces of broccoli and a couple carrot chunks swimming in a bland oily sauce comprised the rest of the dish.
Do you like your rice overcooked till it becomes a bland white starch paste? Apparently they think you will.
The chicken Larb tasted like it had just come back from a week long bender in Tijuana, and it tried to drown out the regret with too much lime and cilantro.
Even the water tasted like it was scooped it out of a public pool. Seriously, you guys are too cheap to run your tap water through a charcoal filter of some sort? In-line filters are less than $15 on Amazon.
Service was not much better.
When we politely told the waitress that the food was not so great, she did not seem to give the slightest f**k. Didn’t ask why or what was wrong. Not surprised or apologetic. Totally unfazed. Then asked if we wanted a box…...
Read moreI am absolutely crazy about thai food and this was the most depressing meal I had, I almost feel robbed. It's the second time I try this restaurant and it will be the last! I will continue to drive out of town to eat real thai food. This place has a lot of potential, the staff is super friendly, the restaurant vibe is great. But the food was a big NO for me. The "honey garlic" chicken sauce tasted like cough syrup with ZERO garlic in it, and I am not exaggerating, there was no garlic nor garlic flavor. I had to get home and cut up my own garlic to try to counter the plain weird tasting syrup to make this somewhat edible. I ordered the chicken with cashews, well, I thought they would have been roasted and incorporated into the sauce, but they charged us 2 dollars for a tiny cup of plain cashews on the side, I didn't expect to build my own food. The amount of sauce they send in the small container is not enough for the quantity of chicken, the amount of rice was not enough for the amount of chicken either. We had to add salt to the plain rice since there was no sauce to mix with it. The sauce was a joke, the quantity of sauce was ridiculous, the amount of rice was pathetic. They place the hot chicken on Styrofoam box, where the box melts and burns holes, I am not sure about you, but I don't feel like eating burned plastic with my food. The only thing I can say was good, is the actual chicken, the batter is great and crunchy, would have been great with a real honey garlic sauce. Not sure if the amount and quality of ingredients only lack for to go orders, but I recommend them revising it ASAP, and please, change...
