Goodness gracious, me oh my. I had a thoroughly horrible experience with this particular branch of Joseph A. Bank. (Names have been changed to try and preserve some dignity.) On June 8th, my wife and I were there to buy a suit for a wedding we were going to attend. Joe greeted us as we entered. He shared the customary small talk as he showed me various suit options. Once we selected one that looked nice and fit me relatively well, he started marking off places for alteration. I don’t want to belittle the man, but he had unsteady hands, which made me nervous about my suit being tailored correctly. Even more so, however, he didn’t seem meticulous or precise. Sue intervened. She recommended a suit that fit better, and she measured me confidently. Afterwards, my wife and I were struggling to agree on some of the clothing decisions: a tie specifically. At one point, Joe was trying to make recommendations and said to my wife, “We want your opinion on these ties. Well, I want your opinion on these ties.” As we were finalizing the experience, Joe recommended I shave my beard for the wedding. I tried to be polite and say no thank you. He suggested it at least once more. There were a few other subtle comments that were plain unprofessional. At the very end when I was paying for the suit and its alterations, Joe forgot to put alteration costs on the same receipt. We did a second transaction. He sent me home with both copies of the suit purchase receipt and no copy of the alteration receipt. Because of the unpleasant experience, I admit that I avoided going back even after getting a call that the alterations were complete. In August, my wife and I went to pick up my suit. I was greeted by a gentleman named Bob. I described my suit and told him that I had been there quite a while ago. I told him my first and last name. Bob went searching for a long time and came back saying it couldn’t be found. Pam, a tailor, was there. She asked me for information about my suit and ended up finding it. The problem, she explained, was that whoever had written the information on my suit’s tag had written almost illegibly. Bob resumed helping me try on my suit. He was relatively terse and unhelpful the whole time. I was unsure about the pant length. Bob was unhelpful. Pam spoke up and said that it was how I was wearing them. After an adjustment based on her advice, they looked much nicer. I finished the process with Bob who was still unpleasant to work with and finally left with my suit. The suit itself turned out very nicely, which counts for something I suppose, but the overall experience was horrible.

Goodness gracious, me oh my. I had a thoroughly horrible experience with this particular branch of Joseph A. Bank.

(Names have been changed to try and preserve some dignity.)

On June 8th, my wife and I were there to buy a suit for a wedding we were going to attend.

Well, I want your opinion on these ties.”

The branch we went to at Old English Shops hardly brought a warm welcome when entering to get my dad fitted. I'm getting married and being that I'm the bride, I was expecting to have been shown some respect.

The salesman looked my father up be down measuring him not not so much for a suit but seeing if we were worth his time! It's almost like he looked down on us and expected we couldn't buy a thing!

He barely engaged us and haphazardly fitted my dad without any conversation. He treated my dad more like one of the mannequins than a human being! And when we asked to see a sample of the suit, he raised his arm to point to the back of the store and said, "Its on the mannequin back there!"

Really?!!!! Unprofessional! We only went there because our closer branch hadn't had the size that might fit my dad's build. Luckily we can pick up our order at our branch which has a friendlier and more...

We came in looking for dinner jackets for a wedding we have in November. Jackie was helping customers and acknowledged us and was extremely attentive, inspite of being extremely busy she was able to take care of everyone and was extremely gracious. I will continue to shop with her for future needs. She even helped me with my delivery question and again could not have been more pleasant. Thank you Jackie for your professional support

UPDATE: Packing for delivery was UNACCEPTABLE! My dinner jacket and tuxedo shirt arrived FedEx IN A PLASTIC BAG!!!!! HANGER SMASHED. EVERYTHING LOOKS LIKE WRINKLED LAUNDRY. How do you get great service in the store, and get something that looks like it was from a thrift store. I would expect a box to protect the integrity of my $500 purchase!!!!! I am absolutely disappointed and want to hear a response before I go back to the store for a refund of...
