If my review only reflected the food, I would be somewhere between 3-4 stars. The food was good and exceeded my expectations as far as quality would go, however, I cannot say the food was great and the quantity was definitely small. All of which I'm normally okay with, some nights it is good to eat light. We had 3 appetizers, I had a salad, and the organic salmon. Why only two stars ? Well I must factor in service when reviewing a business and the service deserved one star, bringing down this entire score. While waiting to receive a seat as per our reservation, we did sit at the bar and were treated well there, but when it came time to be seated, the hostess made a snarky, unexpected remark to my friend that frankly shocked me quite a bit. Next was the waitress, who walked away before we could list the drinks we wanted in a trio sampler and came back to ask "if we had decided on appetizers". I asked if she put in what had already been ordered and she said no, that we needed more time ? Not true. I was ready and it wasn't even like I had paused for a moment before she walked away. A man in a shirt and tie, who I assume was the manager, stood nearby our table and watched us get served and wasn't smiling or friendly at all! (If he was there to observe the server, he never even made note of it and it was quite uncomfortable) At one point he even brought over a drink for us, again, without smiling or coming off as friendly. The waitress brought the bill and pointed out that it didn't include gratuity ?? Since when is it okay to point that out ? Of course it doesn't. She also then charged me for someone else's bill which I caught when she brought back the receipt to fill out and for the first time she became very nice. Probably hoping I wouldn't make a big stink about her mistake, which I didn't because it's not my personality to be rude or complain. I'm typically very easy going, but this was one of my worst dining experiences from the perspective of service. I'd also like to note that not once were we rude to any of the workers, even when they were...
Read moreFirst I am familiar with Harvest, I’ve never dined at this location but have always had it on my radar and decided to make a reservation to celebrate a friend’s birthday.
First, when we were taken to our seat it was a table but there was a vacant booth right behind us so I asked the hostess if we could sit there and she snappily and rudely said “no that’s not available”. Her tone was very rude and dismissive, it gave sit here or sit nowhere. Honestly we should have left then but didn’t. That both sat vacant for 20 minutes before someone was seated. Then they left and she sat two people there about 15 minutes after the first seating. I was very upset by this because it was clear she made a decision that we couldn’t sit there.
Next, we are greeted by the waitress, who was very friendly and asked us if we had been there before, she explained the menu, she asked if we had any allergies (my guest has a religious restriction). The waitress asked us if we were from the area, which could be considered general conversation but it felt like a microaggression because I’m certain she wasn’t asking any of the other guests who didn’t look like us that same question. Just be mindful because while I don’t think there was malicious intent I do know there was a reason she asked and it wasn’t general chit chat. Beyond this, our server and service during our meal was very good.
Now getting past those issues, let’s turn to the food. I had the shrimp and scallop pumpkin risotto and the fig, balsamic glaze and blue cheese flatbread. Both were great. All components of the risotto were executed perfectly, the shrimp and scallops were beautifully cooked. The dish was a tad too sweet but it was still very good.
I did get a takeout order as well and that was good too.
Because of the hostess and microagressions I won’t patronize Harvest because while the food and service was good the sum of the experience left a lot...
Read moreWe had dinner here last week and the experience couldn't have been better. We cook regularly and rarely go out because we really question the quality of the food we are being served at restaurants. In addition to serving high-quality ingredients, the chefs prepare the food extremely well. There were so many unique aspects to each dish that clearly take a lot of time and effort, with presentation being of clearly high priority. The cedar plank smoked salmon was crisp and smoky on the outside and very tender and juicy on the inside. The presentation was excellent, and it was served on a bed of seasonal vegetables with potatoes, broccoli, asparagus, and a creamy aioli sauce. The Bulgogi had a great charred flavor, and the coconut jasmine rice and pickled vegetables were extremely good and reflected a lot of effort. They offered a GF pita bread that was the best we've ever had (not that there are many around), and the chef was kind enough to come to the table and provide us with information about the bakery where they purchase these. He spent several minutes describing his experience working at Harvest, how they develop the seasonal menus, some of the events they offer, and how each restaurant has a core menu but that each one is encouraged to have unique additional offerings based on the experience and background of their staff (e.g., Vietnamese, Indian, African, etc.). The menu is clearly marked with gluten-free options, and there were MANY of those options available. The staff is genuinely nice and really seem to enjoy working at Harvest. From beginning to end, this was a very enjoyable experience with very high quality food offerings and...
