1st time back since the remodeling June 23rd, 2018. We saw a 10:30pm showing of The Incredibles 2. The Good - The reclining seats are the BEST in any theater. The seats reclines further back than Movie Tavern's. Plenty of room even for a 6 foot 285lb big man like me. Very comfortable. The seats are seated in sets of two's in each row. With a small space in between. The leg room is great. And, I loved the fact that nobody was walking in front of me during the movie like at the Movie Tavern. The Bad - Ordering tickets online so you won't have to stand in line. I ordered tickets online, paid the convenience fee (robbery), and was giving a confirmation number. Not a barcode for easy scanning and easy entry. So 1st, not knowing I goes straight to the gatekeeper line and show her my phone so she can scan it. She points me to another line where I have to go to one of the 4 machines to give the machine my confirmation number. So I stood in line (the same line where people buy tickets to get in the movie, it wasn't 2 different lines) went to the machine, gave it my number and the machine gave me my 2 tickets. Now I have to stand in the gatekeepers line again to give her my tickets for entry. Wish I could of just scanned my phone the 1st time that I was in her line. That's 3 lines I stood in and the movie starts at 10:30pm. It's 10:29 now. No time for snacks or the bathroom. Oh, the gatekeeper don't tell you which theater your movie is playing in 1, 2, or 3 etc. I had to look at my phone for that. The movie took forever to start. Due to technical difficulties I presume. That's ok, stuff happens, plus I was running late. But an hour late, on a already late showing movie, was unacceptable. And the movie started without previews so we couldn't run to the bathroom or get snacks. And I love to see what's about to come out. Oh well. The picture of the movie was dark. My TV at home has a better picture. And the 3D was a joke. Nothing came at me. No depth. Just a dark screen with barely any color. The sound was low. Not what you expect in a superhero movie. I counted the speakers, 4 small speakers. Not even enough for 5.1 surround sound. My Vizio soundbar sounded better. It was freezing in there. The temp outside was only 67°F. They must of had it set to 50°F. I had to give my wife my jacket. And I just froze. No need for the air to be on, on a cool night, all night. The movie started so late, on a already late showing movie, that my wife went to sleep halfway in. The low sounding speakers didn't even wake her up. I can't rate the snacks we didn't get any. I can't rate the restroom either I didn't go. But the only thing I liked was the chairs. I wish I could take them seats to The King of Prussia Mall RPX movie theater. That would be the perfect theater. The movie wasn't any good either. And I LOVED the 1st one. One Star for the...
Read moreI have to tell you that we will never step foot into another AMC ever again after the way we were treated. We went to the newly renovated 309 AMC in Bethlehem Pike in north wales Pennsylvania. We usually go to rehome where their customer service is excellent and we’ve always been treated well. But my sons friend wanted to try something new so they did… And never again. My son will be 17 in two weeks his friend is 17 but did not have id. His other friend will be 17 in a month and a half. They wanted to go see the movie it. I drop them off and within seconds later my son called me and said that they were having trouble getting in that they needed me to come. I go in and this big ogre tells me that they cannot get in because they’re not 17 and they need a parent to go with them... I say that I give permission for them to go, to which she says I’m sorry but you have to go in with them. Seriously if you’re gonna make me buy a ticket? I asked to talk to manager he tells me the only one available is checking people in. So I go and get in line. I wait and I wait and I wait finally I get to talk to the manager who also tells me that I have to buy a ticket if the boys want to see the movie Seriously?? They can get a refund or they can go see another movie but according to her if they go to see another movie and they sneak in to see it they will get kicked out…… Really??? I buy a ticket. I walk them into the theater I make sure they’re settled and I leave because I had already seen this movie at the regal along with a lot of people who were Definitely not 17 and definitely not with a parent. I get to my car and my son called me to tell me that they may be getting kicked out but that it might be OK because there’s a guy there who said that he would be their “adult”... But then two seconds later he called me again and tells me that no ... they are getting kicked out because I am not in the theater with them. Seriously??? I have to physically be in the theater with them? Why what’s going to happen to them? Is the killer clown from it going to come out and murder them? Well the killer clown from it turn them into murderers??? Really what do they think is going to happen they are there to watch a movie.…… We get refunds . As we were leaving we see the big ogre outside the front of the building smoking. Seriously?? He can’t do that in the back of the building where nobody can see him or in a designated smoking area away from the front of the building where people actually walk in where people who might be allergic to smoke walk in??? Whatever one affect us because we’re not gonna set foot in the AMCs because we’re going back to...
Read moreRenovations took over a year and for all that work you get a nice facade over the same old theater. Overall, worth the annoyances for the cheap morning visits, but you would have to be insane to pay full price to go here when other theaters nearby, which are older, have better seating, service, and sound.
Good stuff first: Pricing: Tiered ticket pricing depending on the time of your show. Ranging from low of $5.49 before noon to almost $15 late at night. Go early. Not very busy and acceptable ticket prices.
Tickets: Easy electronic kiosks to purchase and print tickets. Don't really need people to help, but there is one person there if needee. Can also buy online if you want to pay convenience fees.
Seating: Recliner seats are nice and spacious, but do lack a true comfort you may be expecting from the initial look of them.
Bar: They have one at the entrance, but it wasn't yet open when I went. Nice feature if you care about that when seeing a movie, but I don't personally. If you want a decent drink at a reasonable price, hit up any of the many nearby places (e.g. The Green Turtle, Iron Hill, or Harvest for example) before or after the movie.
Bad stuff time: Staffing: It sucks. They are horribly understaffed with a bunch of people that seem undertrained. I've seen three movies here so far and every time it's a skeleton crew. Don't know if thats intentional or just trouble finding people, but at this point it is starting to feel intentional.
Seat Layout: For all that renovation work, there is not stadium seating. Everyone is still on the same level which means people moving around are distracting. But the seat rows are further apart which helps this to an extent.
Screen Size & Sound: Again, maybe due to the layout, but these screens seem on line with theaters of the 90s. Screens look small and sound quality of YOUR movie is okay with the Dolby. But they seem to have made no investments in sound proofing. Significant bleed over from nearby theaters which majorly detracts from the quieter parts of your movie (i.e. A Quiet Place is a great example)
Security: There is none. You can walk in and see a movie for free if you see an older one that has low show rates. Nobody checks...
