I went into Altar’d State for the very first time a few days after Christmas with birthday and Christmas money! I was super excited to shop even after hearing not so great reviews about the service.
I bought two shirts for the buy one, get one free sale, and two other full priced shirts $70 each. The service was very relaxed and I was hardly spoken to while shopping. Now, I work in retail and at a boutique at that, and this was strange to me that none of the employees were engaging with their guests.
I checked out after paying $172. A week goes by, and I go to wear one of my shirts and there are several holes in it. (Not the distressed kind of look) I had already taken the tags off the night I got home from buying as I hung it up. My receipt was nowhere to be found. But since I work in retail I know that any item can be returned for full price if it’s found under your loyalty account and if the sown tag with its style ID is still in the item.
I go to take it back just to exchange for the same one and I get there and ALL of the same shirt are falling apart and they are all on sale now. I paid $69.95 and they were now $39.95. So I go to the manager and ask them what we can do, and she exclaims that I have to have all 3 things: receipt, tags, and purchase history in order to make a return/exchange. I became flustered and told her that in all my 6 years of retail I have never heard of that. So she said if they can find it under my history they will honor it “just this once”.
The cashier takes my damaged shirt, looks me up under my information and then goes on to tell me that I have $22.98 to spend for my exchange.... I explained the above situation very clearly and told her if she looked up my information it should show I spent full price. But the cashier says she was unable to find my name with the information I gave....
Extremely flustered at this point I just told them I’d keep the $70 top and fix it myself. Right after I left I called customer service where I told them the situation. The lady on the phone asked for my information and BLOW AND BEHOLD, they found my transaction & receipt. So I went right back to altard state with my receipt and asked for my money back. The lady was very rude and tried to tell me it had to go back on a gift card because the items did not have tags any longer. I asked her if the customer service reps would agree, and she changed her answer and gave me my refund.
For a company that flaunts their Christian morals. Their employees are trash. Rude, judge mental, and unprofessional. I was happy that the customer service rep was helpful but I will not be shopping at altard state again. For a $70 shirt, it should not be falling apart 1. And 2, my experience was very...
Read moreI live in the Houston area and went Christmas shopping at the Baybrook Mall. I went into your store, Altar'd State for the very first time ever. I was really impressed with your store and your alleged philosophy. Based on a lot of the product that you sell, I feel you implied that you believe in Christian ideas and principals. My family and I were Christmas shopping on December 10, 2016. Your store was offering a buy one item and get the second for half price. We spent quite a bit of time in your store. We purchased quite a few items because we liked what we saw and they made good Christmas gifts and the idea of getting the half off the second item sounded like a great deal. Here I sit this evening getting ready to wrap presents for my friends and family. Of course, we all remove the pricing labels. Imagine to my surprise that an item that I purchased had 2 labels on it. The first label said the cost of the item was $39.95. The 2nd label, under the first said the cost of the item was $29.95. WHAT? I don't want to pretend that we as consumers don't know this happens, but I am surprised, due to your own words in your Mission Statement and your Core Values, that you do this sales tactic. I am not looking or asking for anything. However, I want you to know that I will not shop in your store again. I will tell this story to folks, just in regular conversations so that they see that your organization does not truly believe in its own words. Two of your core values really struck me on your website: Responsible----Do the Right Thing Creativity---Not Capital
And finally, your mission statement closes with the following: WE STAND FOR GOOD TO GLORIFY GOD.
Just my opinion, I do not think this sales tactic truly...
Read moreI have always loved Baybrook Mall.
However, I don't go to it very often as it is on the other side of town from where I live and there is a great mall near me. Not to mention, the traffic alone in the Clearlake area is enough to make me avoid it all together. On this particular occasion, I only went to drop of my wedding rings at the jewelers for their cleaning and inspection, which, sadly, is the closest location besides the Woodlands.
Anyhow, while in the mall I noticed some really cute dresses in the window and decided to go in since I did have to shop for my husbands Christmas work party.
I was immediately amazed by this store! Despite being very crowded because of the holidays, all the employee were friendly and helpful.
I really loved the ambiance and decor. If I could by everything in this store I would!
I did buy a really soft green dress with lace on the sleeves and boot socks, both of which I received many compliments on. Additionally, our 15 year old wants to "borrow" my dress, which is the biggest compliment of all!
LOVE LOVE LOVE this store! Please build one...
