I've been a loyal Cutthroat customer for almost ten years and have had my haircut by at least nine different barbers across all three locations in that time, but Washington is my favorite. It's not the most convenient location for me but the staff, ambiance, and neighboring businesses (Reserve Supply and Catalina Coffee) keep me coming back month after month.
For barbers, Dakota is my guy. On the personal side, he is friendly, funny, curious, and worldly in a way that makes me think he could hold a conversation on almost any subject with anybody. As a practitioner, he has given me some of the best haircuts of all time and taught me more about my own hair (the nuances of style, care, and experimentation) than anyone else in my life. When I was ready to ditch my default fade (which I was sporting for almost 15 years) and explore a more wavy, pushed-back look, his guidance and support gave me the confidence to embrace a more natural hair style that I now love - better reflecting who I am and how I feel about myself.
For a short period earlier this year, Dakota was out of the shop due to an injury, and Adele stepped in to cut my hair during that time. Adele's station is across the shop from Dakota's so I would often watch her doing great work for other clients, thinking the entire time that if I ever needed someone else to cut my hair, she could be my go-to. When that time finally came, she did not disappoint. Getting your hair cut by someone new always brings up some nervous feelings but Adele picked up right where Dakota left off, instantly making me feel comfortable in her chair, and giving me an perfect hair cut every time I sat down with her.
Recently, I also started taking my four year old son with me for regular haircuts with Mikey, the newest barber at the shop. Good grooming and social skills are important life lessons that are reinforced at the barber shop and Mikey is helping my son to practice both. Mikey engages my son in conversation (without being patronizing), considers his hair cut with intention, and (like a saint) is patient with him when he inevitably gets distracted or squirmy. My son always looks forward to his monthly visit to the barber, leaves the shop feeling like a champ, and asks when we get to go back and see Mikey every time.
Finally, I have to give it up for the front desk staff and their consistent customer service. They are responsive when scheduling (or re-scheduling) an appointment via text. They are outgoing and conversational while paying at check-out. They keep the shop clean by sweeping up hair, stocking hot towels, or running laundry cycles. But most importantly, they always keep the fridge stocked with cold cans of local beer and will even pour you a glass of something a little stronger if you...

I waited for my turn. Once it was my turn I told him that I wanted it bald type from the sides and really short from the top cuz I didn't like how my hair felt so I wanted to completely cut it off cuz I had done some damage to it because of bleaching. It was hard for me to see what he was doing cuz I wear glasses and I did not have my glasses on. but once he told me he was done I put all my glasses to check the length of my hair and I had 1/2 in. in the front and 2in the back of top of my head . My hair was still long and I had told him why is shorter from the front and not from the back? and he responded with "not at all" and on the side of my hairs I still had my sideburns. So instead of him fixing the top of my hair he faded out my sideburns more. And I asked him if he wasn't going to fix the top and he said that he had other people waiting on him. So he left my hair all f up from the top and not even faded. Let's keep in mind I waited for him to finish up the guy in front of me but he refused to take that extra time and finish up on my hair so he could continue his other appointments. (I contacted the other store but I haven't heard back told me the manager was really busy all I wanted to know was if somebody else could...
Read moreI have coming to this location for over 5 year now I haven’t came to this location in a long time, the atmosphere here hasn’t change and everyone makes the experience a welcoming one. I had one of the best haircut experiences in my entire life today. Danny not only is a master of his craft but such a easy going and personable barber. He understood everything that I was going for with my hair and beard style. Once I saw the finished project I was amazed with everything. He also put on his hair product and gave me some information about the product and it really peaked my interest I’m pretty picky about hair products and have tried numerous ones over the years he applied some to my hair and with ease the product went in my hair! it smells amazing I was hooked and bought the product right there and then! it has been in my hair all day and didn’t make it feel weighed down at all. I came out of there feeling like a brand new man. I highly recommend him or anyone at this location you can genuinely tell each and everyone here cares about their craft and wants you to...
