I never write reviews (good or bad), but it’s becoming ridiculous so here it goes.
My husband and I have lived here for almost 3 years and we can not wait for our lease to be up. Some of the biggest reasons are that this place is not secure, safe or clean. Whenever there is a robbery (which has become a huge , VERY frequent problem), residents get an email (which is appreciated), explaining what happened and then they give advice on what to look for and how to stay alert. When the email comes out, it feels like they are almost blaming the residents for the security issues. We are told we have security guards present (at almost all times). I have seen them maybe 4 times in the 3 years we have lived here. A couple of those times the security guard was sitting in their car on their phone. I strongly feel, they should do more on their part to keep the community that they are responsible for safe. The doors going in and out of the property are constantly broken. We just received an email that someone got their car stolen from our parking garage in the early morning hours a couple days ago. Im sure the fact that the garage doors, going out of the parking garage, being left wide open and unsupervised (no security) probably didn't help the situation for the person who got their car stolen. The garage door has been broken for at least 1-2 weeks now, so anyone can walk into or out of the property at any time. There seems to be no rush in trying to get this issue fixed. They may be waiting on parts, etc....but during that time you could at least have a security guard check who is going in and out. Aside from the broken garage doors, the doors going into the property are always left open. Sometimes (or i should say a lot of the time) they are broken and no matter how much you try to get them to latch....they don't. I understand things break and break-ins happen anywhere you go, but District at Washington should show signs that they are at least trying to resolve the issue (sending an email is not a solution). In my opinion, they take their time getting the issue resolved. The property has an odd smell to it. Their is always dog poop scattered throughout the property. 2 out of the 3 grills on the property are broken. We have had water leak out of a pipe and flood our front door area (inside the apartment) about 4 times over the last year. The solution the maintenance guy comes up with is shoving rags into the pipe. Our kitchen sink has not drained properly the last couple weeks. When we turn the water on it starts to overflow with disgusting looking and smelling water. The maintenance guy has looked at it twice and uses a toilet plunger (which I cant say for sure, but may have been used on an actual toilet) to try to unclog it. The first time he wasn't successful - actually made the issue worse. He told us he would come back the next morning. After he left, i walked over to look at the sink and dirty, stinky water was left for us (almost over the edge of the sink). The water sat in the sink and stank up our apt for over 12 hours, which is not acceptable. There is no sense in giving a formal complaint because i feel that excuses are made. Recently, we requested to have our air vents looked at because it appeared mold was growing out of it. The maintenance guy came to look and said that they would have someone come clean them and that they would maybe have to move our couch and thats it. I told them that was fine and I had no issue with that what so ever. When i got home from work the following day....I walked into our apartment and it looked like someone had broken into our apartment because our belongings (not just our couch) were spread EVERYWHERE! At first I actually thought someone broke into our apt because it happens a lot here. I would list everything that was misplaced and other encounters we have had, but there is not enough characters allowed in this review box. I think this place has the potential to be decent, but currently I would NOT recommend this...
Read moreBEWARE! Do not use their Jetty. It hasn’t even been 30 days since they sent the invoice and they filed a claim with Jetty so they can get paid for the so called “damages”. No one has even tried to reach back to discuss these ridiculous charges!
Responding to management here since you can’t reply and they don’t answer emails. NO MA’AM you are charging for a FULL paint job as if I had done EXTENSIVE damage to the entire apartment walls. Never in the 20+ yrs that I have rented have I had to pay to get all the walls repainted ESPECIALLY since several of the wall/ceiling areas were damaged by another resident’s issue. I stated that problem in many emails, this of which went unresponded. Additionally I couldn’t agree more with other tenants that left saying tbey are charging you for painting the high ceilings, ceilings on the first floor you can’t even reach! Just look at the ridiculous fees being charged on the last picture I posted. Also, don’t tell me there was a walk through available because at any point when I turned in my front door neighbor’s or my keys was it mentioned to me nor was I contacted for such. The AM went into her office when I walked in and left Jonathan to handle my fwd address. So, as I stated in my email, I will not pay the absurd fee you are trying to charge for carpet that should be exchanged due to possible mold growing as it was only dried out and sort of “washed” or the damage the walls sustained with water damage for another unit. The pictures below are accurate as of this year that I lived there. You can’t tell me the halls don’t get flooded with a simple rain because you barely walked through the back halls, my camera can attest to that. The mailroom just recently received the lockers but as I was leaving 3 wks ago, this was still the mess. The pictures of the water leak was from the day after when I had to call and ask why no one was coming to clean or do something with the carpet because it had been more than 24 hrs since the damage happened. You want me to keep going, I can and will.
DON’T MOVE HERE! THERE ARE BETTER OPTIONS!
I recently moved out and they are wanting to bill me for a paint job which they are supposed to do anyway after a move out. Not only that I mentioned many times to the office that there was water damage and stains in my apartment due to a leak caused by the 4th floor. They want me to pay a “FULL Paint job” for something that should have been fixed long ago! Similarly, I mentioned my apartment smelled like smoke from tenants that smoke inside their unit and never did management reached out or said anything about it. Same with the carpet which water messed up in the closet and hall. If you move to 163 know that the carpet hasn’t been changed in 2 years. I know because it wasn’t when I moved in! They want to charge a “heavy carpet cleaning” for that as well. This is filthy just like the entire complex is!
Since the first month I regretted moving here. I felt unsafe when I had a neighbor come by and told me his unit was broken into. That’s aside from cars constantly getting vandalized due to the lack of security and cameras not working at all and anyone able to come in through broken doors. Trash is everywhere and take a minute to look up- webs all over. The only “clean” area is the front hall and office, of course this is for show. Ask to see your unit in person before you actually apply, you’ll see how you will find...
Read moreTL;DR - The mail system is terrible. Packages get lost, since there is no structure in the mailroom. Asked help from an Assistant Manager (Jonathan) and he said he would help out, but never did.
I travel for work, so receiving packages is already a hassle. I have to plan for packages to be delivered on weekends.
Unfortunately, I had an issue with Amazon packages not being delivered, which led to reordering. The packages were going to arrive during the week, so I was going to have a friend pick them up.
The first package was delivered to my door in the morning (sooner than expected). My friend wasn't going to be able to pick up the package until after work hours. I had already heard from neighbors about packages being stolen in hallways and cars being broken into in the garage. I asked a staff member (Jonathan) for help, since management said they can place packages in our apartments, if needed as long as we email them with permission. I spoke with Jonathan on the phone, he said he would be able to do this, to email them with permission, and he would email me with a confirmation of when it was done. Even though I did that, the package was not placed in the apartment, and my friend picked it up from outside of my door. Luckily, it wasn't stolen, but this was the first incident.
The very next day, another package was delivered, but this time to the mailroom (even though I asked Amazon to deliver it to my door). I called the office again, Jonathan picked up again. I explained that I needed the package placed in my apartment because my friend was going to pick it up (the office would have been closed by then, so I needed the package in my apartment). Jonathan said he would try, since he was scheduled to give tours. I asked if it was possible to ask someone else to do it, if he was going to be busy. He said he would let the other assistant manager (Nayeli) know. I then explained how important the package was and needed it for that night, so to please place the package in the apartment. He said "This is what I will do. I will locate the package right now, place it in your apartment, and send you pictures of confirmation when I am done. But in return, I'd like for you to leave a Google review." I thought it was a weird way to go about it, but if it got my package in the apartment, it's the least I could do. To almost no surprise, Jonathan did NOT place the package in the apartment, my friend was not able to pick up the package for that night, I had to pick up the package on a Saturday when I got back from work, and now I have a package I can no longer use and need to return to Amazon.
I was very disappointed with how both incidents resulted, especially since they were literally two days in a row. It's terrible that Jonathan would have the audacity to even ask for a Google review and not even follow through with the request, which proves where his focus lies. With the lack of structure in the mailroom, expect packages to get lost. If you need help with packages being placed in your apartment, speak with Ms. Nayeli (Assistant Manager) or Ms. Julie (Manager) directly. They may actually go through with their actions,...
