I just got my picture taken here for a Houston CPA firm, so I'm not sure how expensive they are, as the firm payed for it either beforehand or afterwards - I can just write about the experience.
(Actually, looking at their website, it looks like it would have cost somewhere from $190-$320?)
I must say, having had my picture taken by around 6 professional photographers, that this was the most pleasant experience out of all of them. My appointment was at 8:00 AM. I was un-caffeinated, fairly groggy, and got there a little bit early because I wasn't sure where it was. It's kind of a hole-in-the-wall, near a lot of other stores, including another photography business, which threw me off. Kenn (the photographer) came outside seeing me drive around the parking lot and waved me over with a friendly smile on his face.
A little note about Kenn - he was the embodiment of a gentleman. He was dressed like I assume a gentleman would dress, complete with a bow-tie. He was extremely gracious, upbeat, and warm. As my picture was being taken and we were reviewing the pictures afterwards, he had an extremely positive attitude and a lot of quips and comments that made me smile and started my morning off great. Seriously, this is such an awesome, friendly man.
The photography studio is extremely home-y and just plain nice. The actual photography session did not take long - maybe 10 minutes from start to finish. Kenn sat me down, had me face different directions to see which angle was best, made some adjustments to my suit and tie, and clipped my jacket together so it looked less puffy. He adjusted the lighting and some tin-foil looking lighting contraption that reflected light upwards. Then, he took pictures, having me tilt my head a certain way, lean the right angle, etc. Again, this was all done very quick.
He then had me come look at the pictures he took (around seven all together), and we went through them, choosing our favorites. They ALL looked great. I was stunned by how well they turned out, as I'm not very photogenic. The hardest part was whittling down the pictures the my favorite, because he did such a great job. He offered suggestions when I asked, and he made some comments and helped me notice things about the pictures I did not before, and he helped me pick the absolute best picture. He said he would touch the picture up some (I did not have my top button buttoned because my neck is too thick, so my shirt was ever-so-slightly wrinkled, and I am assuming he will touch up my complexion some).
Again, from start-to-finish this probably took 10 minutes, although I had a 30-minute session if needed (two other coworkers were having their picture taken too, and had 7:30 and 8:30 appointments). I am beyond satisfied. Even without editing the photo looked amazing, and I can't wait to see how it turns out. I cannot recommend...
Read moreIt is my belief that finding someone whom you can trust when it comes to one’s children might be the absolute hardest thing in the world. I feel that applies whether it is a pediatrician or a school or anything in between—even capturing the most precious moments in your child’s life as they grow. At Gittings Portraiture on West Alabama in the Highland Village Area of Houston, Texas, the team of Andrew Cordes and master photographer Brad Mariage make these moments some of the most cherished one can have. And I know, because I speak from experience! My daughter Emmie has had her annual portraits taken by Brad for the past three consecutive years, with the first and third in studio sessions bookending the second session in the blooming, Brenham bluebonnets. Brad always succeeds in making Emmie feel like the most spectacular, fascinating creature to ever be photographed, while Andy ensures that everything runs smoothly, and the process of portrait selection and ordering is not only productive, but also super fun. Did I mention he is a joy to be around, because he is! Emmie was beyond thrilled to grace one of the windows at the studio last year, and their constant attention and positivity has boosted her confidence and brought so much joy. I cannot say enough about the team at Gittings, the experience they provide, and the impeccable product that results from a sitting. I cannot imagine anyone else taking Emmie’s annual portraits; Gittings has become a part of our family, and we are so grateful to them for making Emmie feel like the most special girl...
