The Motherhood Center of Houston is truly a godsend. My husband and I took full advantage of nearly all their services, and I cannot say enough about how incredible our experience has been. From the moment we walked through their doors, at their Baby Bump Social we were met with warmth, compassion, and unmatched expertise. It genuinely feels like a sanctuary for new and expecting parents.
While I was pregnant, we attended all four of their preparatory classes: CPR, Newborn Prep, Labor and Delivery, and Breastfeeding. Each class was thoughtfully structured and informative, leaving us feeling far more confident and prepared to step into parenthood. The instructors were patient, knowledgeable, and so encouraging.
Once our baby was born, we had the privilege of working with Renee, their amazing lactation consultant. She came to our home for consultations, and her guidance was invaluable throughout the first five months of my breastfeeding journey. Renee’s kindness and expertise gave me the reassurance I needed, and renting their hospital-grade pump was a game-changer for boosting my supply.
Their Doula and babysitting services were equally incredible. We had Angela, an outstanding newborn doula, help us both during the day and a few nights. She was a wealth of knowledge and support, giving me peace of mind and much-needed rest during those early weeks of motherhood. Later, we used their babysitting services and had the pleasure of working with Audrina, who was wonderful with our child—so caring, kind, and attentive.
I even treated myself to a postnatal massage, and it was heavenly—truly one of the most relaxing and rejuvenating experiences I’ve had.
The Motherhood Center is an extraordinary resource filled with caring, knowledgeable professionals who genuinely want to support you on your parenting journey. Thanks to them, I stepped into motherhood feeling empowered, well-prepared, and supported every step of the way.
Unfortunately, we had to leave Houston due to a job relocation, and I can’t express how much I’ll miss having the Motherhood Center in our lives. I wish every parent could have access to such a remarkable place. If you’re pregnant or a new (or old) parent, do yourself a favor and make The Motherhood Center a part of your journey. It truly is a one-stop shop that will leave you feeling loved, prepared, and confident. I cannot recommend their...
Read moreThe concept behind The Motherhood Center is amazing & needed, unfortunately we had a terrible experience with the night nanny hired for us, which left us unable to trust the quality & vetting/training provided.
When we were assigned a night nanny, she said some questionable things (“I am a little sick, but it has to be a cold because I’m immune against the flu, I got my flu shot!”) but we liked her well enough & she was a medic so we liked her own background.
We almost lost our son when he was born and he was in the highest level NICU at TCH for a month. We paid the night nanny to do a few shifts at the hospital (TCH) once our son was on the path to coming home to make sure she was prepared.
The night we brought him home, I went to go say Goodnight to our son and found him in the nursery, FACE DOWN & ALONE, with the lights off. She was not there.
When she returned (~5 minutes later, I assume she was in the bathroom) I asked her about it to make sure he had not rolled over & she confirmed that yes, she put him face down, because she was “experimenting with sleep positions.” When I challenged her, she said that he could choke if he spat up.
Needless to say, she was asked to leave that night, but I cannot recommend the Motherhood Center’s judgment in nanny’s they put in people’s homes. In 2019 (the year this occurred) it was common knowledge & should be REQUIRED training for an infant caregiver that the only safe position for an infant is on their back.
Re: their response, that night we called & was able to reach someone even though it was after hours. The woman we spoke to (Sylvia maybe?) understood & agreed it was unacceptable & said they would find a replacement, but the one they were able to secure would not be available for a month. That did not work for us so they did willingly refund the unused portion of our deposit.
I know this is long, but I wanted to share what happened so anyone reading can decide if our experience is relevant to their needs & the services they...
Read moreIn the past I’ve had great success relying on the motherhood center for fitness classes, massages, and parenting classes. I felt so confident in the level of service they’ve delivered on for me in the past I did not even question who we would go through in hiring a nanny placement service. I hate to even be writing this, but the truth of the matter is they waisted so much of my time in thinking I could trust them to find us a new full time nanny. They put a candidate in front of us that I immediately had a negative feeling about, but wanted to trust in their recommendation. After a few quick searches online I found this candidate on Care.com with the most horrible reviews. I hired the MHC so that I could find someone different than I could find on my own – which they assured me would be the case. The candidate they put in front of me was someone I never ever would have contacted based upon her reviews which included being extremely unreliable and in one instance not feeding a families child. I was horrified. We immediately terminated services with the MHC and I had to continue the search on my own. Thankfully we found a new nanny, but interestingly enough when I was calling on references I spoke with two other moms who had very scary interactions with nannies they had hired through MHC and had to fire within the first two weeks of working for their families. I am simply putting this out in the universe so that others will know the level of service unfortunately is not there right now for the nanny placement service and hopefully I can save you time and heartburn over what is already a very...
