Joshua's Native Plants & Garden — Local services in Houston

I moved into a new house where I wanted to create a wildlife habitat in the backyard using primarily native plants. After doing my research for a couple months I came up with a list of native plants I was looking for and headed to Joshuas first since they have the words “Native Plants” in the name of the store I assumed they knew a thing or two about natives. I arrived and looked around for a bit alone and found absolutely none of the native plants I was looking for so sought out help from a worker. I showed him the list of plants and he confirmed they had none of them so I told him I was looking for native plants and wondering if they had a specific section of the nursery for natives or could he point out some to me that they did have in stock? He was absolutely clueless about native plants and couldn’t find a single one for me instead pointing out things like Little John Bottlebrush, Mexican Butterfly Weed, and various other plants that were not even native to the United States, let alone Texas. He then sought out help from other workers who also could not tell me one single plant native to Texas. I left after not purchasing anything and will not go back they know absolutely nothing about native plants yet claim to be a specialist. If you are seeking Native Plants my recommendation is Enchanted Forest or Enchanted Garden my entire yard consists of plants from these two nurseries and looks fantastic after multiple...

I absolutely love everything about this nursery! They have a fantastic assortment of lovely and healthy plants to choose from at good prices. We have also acquired some of our favorite pots from them, as they offer a very wide selection of those as well. To top it all off, they have a magnificent selection of rocks, gems, and crystals. We have purchased some our favorite stones from them and they offer unique items we have yet to see elsewhere. Apart from all of that, their customer service is absolutely wonderful. Everyone is extremely attentive and willing to offer advice or answer any question you might have. It’s always a treat getting to visit Joshua’s. I chose to come here over Home Depot or Lowe’s because I hope and expect a small business to have knowledgeable employees eager to share their recommendations. I was feeling overwhelmed walking around and so I asked an employee if he could recommend any two plants that would flourish in a pot on my porch along the flower I had already selected. His response was there were 100s of options and he didn’t have the time to “give me a tour” of the place because they were short staffed. So if you’re expecting any type of customer attention, maybe skip work and come during a weekday instead of a busy Sunday, or just go to Lowe’s or Home Depot instead.
