The Waffle Bus — Restaurant in Houston

EDIT: Obviously the owner did not comprehend that my issue was not with Grubhub as they were the only ones who remedied the situation when I decided I wanted a refund due to the staff member hanging up on me and not answering my calls afterward. I live 30 minutes away from Waffle Bus which is why we order beforehand. If I had the time to drive all the way over there and then place my order I would but that’s not the issue nor the case. The issue was with the staff and their unprofessional behavior. If the restaurant is busy and cannot answer phone calls I have no idea why the option for curbside pick up is available when no one answers the phone. If they had answered phone calls In the first place I would have gladly placed my order without a third party but your restaurant never answers calls.

I was always a huge fan until they opened their brick and mortar. It has happened not only once but several times that we get attitude from the staff in person or over a phone call. I asked for a manager to explain what was going on with my order and instead of doing so they hung up and did not answer my phone calls. I had to request a refund from Grub hub when I was not able to reach anyone at the restaurant. A separate time we ordered online and when we arrived they let us know the order wasn’t ready yet. We waited 20 minutes only for them to ask “wait and when did you place your order?” Meaning who ever told us it would be ready shortly, lied. When we showed them the receipt they said we had to wait another 20 minutes for them to complete a new order because they never “received it” from postmates. Unacceptable. This place has great food but overall terrible staff...

I was in The Heights for yoga and worked up an appetite. I got on Google and lo and behold this was within walking distance. Since I'd been meaning to try them from back when they were solely a bus, it felt like a no brainier.

This is a cashless establishment so bring your card! There are two tablets for customers to place their own orders but there was also someone there in the other side of the counter to assist if necessary.

I ordered the Smashburger on a brioche bun, small, seasoned waffle fries, and a strawberries and cream waffle sandwich. Everything was amazing! The burger is exactly what I'm looking for when I say I just want a simple burger. The party wasn't too thick and the toppings weren't overpowering. It had cheese, grilled onions, pickles, and a special sauce but those simple ingredients were done right! I ate every bite. The small fries were the perfect size when you're not trying too overdo it. They said those fries were seasoned and they did not tell a lie! I didn't even need ketchup! Also, my cup was filled with full sized fries and not a bunch of crumbs inside.

That strawberries and cream waffle sandwich was the truth! The waffle was perfect. The strawberries were fresh. The sweet cream, caramel, and whipped cream held up beautifully--and I do mean beautifully. The way it was put together, it deserves a photoshoot.

This place is one of those places that you only do once. There’s contactless (mostly) ordering and paying. This wouldn’t be an issue, but the prices are outrageously high for that type of self serve service. As you can see in the picture two items came to a total of $31+. It’s just not justifiable for the food you get. Don’t get me wrong, it’s good, above average at best, but NOT great. The hot chicken sandwitch wasn’t even as hot as it’s advertised. Along with that, I was left feeling hungry still due to the incredibly small portions. I get that maybe the place is upscale but at that point it’s not even worth coming here once if you’re actually looking for good food. The combo option makes no sense either, why am I paying an ADDITIONAL $5 to add the saddest portion of fries and a 4 oz (6 oz if i’m being generous) drink. Not worth coming here more than once for the incredibly just “good” food. All of this piled on just to add the incredibly small parking lot with bumps, bruises, and pot holes. This is because the parking lot infront of the business is too small to support its foot traffic. My advise to the owner is to lower prices to something more affordable for the meal that you get, and as for the parking lot there’s not much to be done so i’ll excuse it. 2 stars in the end, 1 star added cause I enjoyed...
