A simple resizing of my ring led to 2 more visits to correct problems. I was first squeezed into a ring size that was too small for my finger, despite voicing my hesitations and discomfort, they assured me it would be fine. Picking it up, they had completely removed the antique on my ring and upon reapplying it, turned the whole thing black. When I returned again to get the problem fixed, I was talked over and was told this is how it was before. Lucas finally removed the black at my request to lighten it up, but did a sloppy job, with most of the antique flaking off within the next 6 months.
6 months later I returned with a barely antiqued ring, cracked skin, and rashes where the ring was too tight. I was immediately blamed for the problem and asked "why I didn't speak up when initially there". Upon trying to get a larger size, Lucas kept pushing to go back to the size I originally had before this process (too large). I finally got the size I wanted.
Picking up the ring for the 3rd time, Lucas had smoothed over some designs on the ring, ruining some symbolism. He once again removed the antique, but this time (despite me explaining exactly how I wanted the antique, with pictures) he antiqued only the crest of the ring, leaving a weird gold ring with a huge black blotch in the middle. Upon complaint, he immediately blamed his assistants (who were very apologetic throughout this whole process) and yelled at them in front of me, calling them stupid.
After another sloppy antiquing job, he FINALLY got it right. He even attempted to correct the smoothing of the design by hurriedly banging uneven dots into the back of the ring.
Don't waste your time, money, or jewelry at Lucas & Co. You'll be talked down to and your jewelry won't come out...
Read moreReview from a perfectionist on the most important piece of jewelry I was ever going to buy: This is a fantastic family business and I would like to expand on that. Lucas and his staff have a true care for people and their jewelry. He is also a perfectionist with crazy talent and he has the latest 3-D printing technology to create anything you can imagine. That is what you need to know and here is my story of why I think there is no better place than this.
I spent months shopping for an engagement ring visiting every Jewelry store around that would meet my expectations and ability to design a ring idea I had come up with. I found that finding a master Jeweler is no easy task. Then Lucas was recommended by a jewelry appraiser I met at a big store after purchasing the diamond. Lucas spent time with me listening to my ideas, and the first thing he told me was "If you can dream it I can make it". My fiance's mom let me use 2 diamonds from her mom's precious wedding ring to make it part of my design. Oma( Grandma) was precious to my fiance and no longer with us. I never got to meet her but I wanted her to be part of this... So, Lucas took on the demanding task and delivered on his word creating a beautiful ring, even more beautiful than what I had dreamed.
Lucas has amazing attention to detail and it was absolutely priceless to be able to talk to a master jeweler in person. This place is literally a goldmine for anyone who wants amazing one of a kind custom jewelry. November 2020 update. Wedding got moved to October because of Covid19. We had also asked Lucas to design my ring as well and my now Wife and I are 2 weeks married! The rings...
Read moreOver promised and under delivered. I came with a very special and unique jewelry piece that needed expertise and specialty craftsmanship. This is a multi-strand, semi precious and precious stone necklace with white gold and diamond chips. A single strand was broken and I wanted it repaired. Mr. Lucas upsold me on restranding the whole thing so “it would be stronger than ever.” Two months and three attempts and he didn’t get it right. Mr. Lucas chose to initially outsource the repair to somebody else who completely mangled it, and he was then subsequently never able to get it back to the original design. I’m actually shocked at the oversight and the fact that he was still trying to tell me that it was fine, when it clearly wasn’t. It also appears that gemstones are “missing.” His staff was helpful and I would like to mention that Sonya was affirming and responsive. Ultimately, they did give me a partial refund upon my request, but it was an exorbitant price. Sadly, my necklace will never be made right. Terrible experience. Below is a before and after...
