I must admit, I have a genuine fondness for the chocolate at this store. Yesterday when I pass by, I just want to get in and buy some good chocolate. Initially, I noticed a large A4 paper displaying the words "free sample" inside, which led me to assume that I would have the opportunity to try some samples to help me decide which product to purchase. Upon entering the store, I took it upon myself to peruse the available products, and then I came across the very cool flavor of "cherry blossom chocolate." Naturally, I inquired about obtaining a sample of this flavor, only to be informed by the staff that they did not offer free samples.
Suddenly, another customer entered the store, and they purchased a product. The staff promptly took out some chocolate chips and offered them as free samples to the customer. I stood nearby, observing the situation. Eventually, I ended up buying two products myself, but I did not receive any free samples. This made me question the criteria for being eligible to receive free samples. If the store advertises such "free samples" on their front door, one would assume they could deliver on that promise, right? Or perhaps it is merely based on the staff's personal preferences and their evaluation of whether a customer can afford the products. I couldn't help but feel very disappointed. Initially, when this store first opened, I found the staff to be much more amiable and attentive to...
Read moreIâve been to Royce many many times, especially the NY location. I was really happy when they opened one here in Houston. As amazing as the chocolate is itself, the CUSTOMER service is terrible. First, I was one of the two customer in the store. The front desk lady was giving away so many free samples of their new collection to the other customer (literally one after another). When I came up to the front desk - NO offers even though I purchased an item already. When I asked if I could try some samples of their Nama collection - zero offers and NONE of the collections had samples. Normally, ROYCE offers a handy amount of samples when you ask (which is one reason why I keep coming back and ordering $100+ during holidays). Second, I asked a couple questions about their pistachio and Sakura - blunt, no alternative offers, just nothing. I was willing to purchase more if they gave in more effort. But the biased treatment between two customers (maybe I had a very relax outfit? Or maybe since Im in my mid 20s, they assumed I had no income?) is HUGE. Anyways, greatly disappointed ): service was much much better when they...
Read moreI personally enjoyed my visit to Royce' Chocolate. I recommended this place to my sister; however, she brought some strange reviews to my attention. I typically would not use names in a review but because I was in the store when the incident mentioned in the reviews happened, I have to call out the reviews from: Amy and Jenny Ngo, Jason Flores, Alan Pham, Tammy, and Jen Fuentes. The sales associate that Amy's review unnecessarily included a picture of was extremely pleasant and helpful. She was knowledgeable and nice. When this group initially attempted to enter the store, they were politely asked to wait because the store was at capacity. One person in the group was belligerent and slammed the door. It seemed very uncalled for. I did not witness the sales associate being rude or racist. As a former retail worker, I would encourage the sales associate to determine if it is possible to file a claim of defamation or slander against the person that posted the review with her picture. Her picture being posted is dangerous and has the potential to...
