No frills but super friendly, low key gun space. It looks in pictures like it might be an intimidating place. In terms of gym space and equipment, the pictures are spot on. However, in terms of environment, the pictures could not be more wrong. The staff could not have been more welcoming from the moment I walked in the door. Bathrooms are individual and have showers and are clean and stocked with basic toiletries. There are no lockers available but the gear area in the back is plainly visible from the whole gym, or you are welcome to carry your bag around with you. Basic workout supplies like bottled water and preworkout are available in the back for a nominal fee, and there is a basic kitchen area with a microwave, sink, and countertop available for common use as well. Lifting equipment is all basic but in good shape for all your bodybuilding needs. Squat rack, deadlift mat, leg press, etc are on one side of the gym with plate and cable lower body machines and upper body machines and free weights are on the other side. Cardio equipment including a stair stepper and a few treadmills are in the front of the facility. I wish they had a spin machine in the mix of cardio equipment. Overall a great facility that is even better...
Read moreI just quit this gym. Not because I didn't love it, but because I was leaving town. If it hadn't been for that, I'd have stayed forever. This is what a gym should be like. No complicated membership. No hard-sell. No schmoozing trainers. Just clean, well lit, loud music, and plenty of equipment and free weights to get the job done. You like machines, they got 'em. Free wights, got 'em. Cardio, (whatever...) they got that too. Into the basics: deadlifts, squats, bench press, they got that with plenty of bars (not bent), racks, benches and plates to satisfy the biggest bro. No bumper plates, though. Oly guys need not apply. Otherwise, Steel Mill is your good-to-go gym. And after the hard work is done, two well-maintained bathrooms with showers make a guy ready for whatever comes next. When I had to cancel, the guy behind the counter just asked my name, looked me up on the computer and said, "Ok, you're cancelled." Easy as pie. Just like it ought to be. Thank you Steel Mill!...
Read moreI love this gym. It's a mental zen place. The gym is a low key neighborhood spot that you can go to and put in work without worrying about crowded equipment or interruptions. I've seen around 10 people here at once during peak hours, which is plenty of room to move around. Outside of peak hours, you can have the whole gym to yourself.
This is a simple, clean, organized gym with free weights and workout machines. It has lockers, two bathrooms with showers, a meal prep area, and "chill areas". The owners are passionate and competitive in body building, so the equipment they carry is also evolving.
There's a coffee shop next door, tables and benches out front, and couches inside if you're waiting on your workout partner, need to load up on energy before a workout, or want to rest after a workout and talk to others. The members here range from beginners who just want to learn to be and look healthier, to competitive bodybuilders; everyone is different and everyone here...
