Service-terrible; waited over 10 min for drink refills after having to flag down disappearing waiter. Appears that if you don't have a party of at least 7 you get minimal and untimely service at best. Large groups on Sunday night due to graduation, would have been nice to be told our food would take longer as you were understaffed and ill prepared to handle the orders being placed. Yet we waited - took about 40 min to get our food (while not having drinks or chips most of that time mind you.) And a very inattentive waiter who stayed in the kitchen the whole time. Dining experience - Wasn't aware it became a night club - we were sat on the large room facing Main St. Music was already loud to begin with - way too loud for a restaurant. There were 4 tables of graduation parties, no problem, however during our meal one of your staff turned it up soo loud (Post Malone-Congratulations) was the song. I literally could not hear anything, nor my family at the same table-it was so miserably loud-especially for kids (we came to dine as a family on a Sunday evening). That was ruined - but I presume the larger grad parties and tabs are most important, so accommodate them and disregard the other guests is the protocol. To finalize the awful experience I had to get up to go to the front to pay my bill - since waiter never came around too often and our eardrums were being busted we could not finish our food nor wait any longer for a bill. I asked for a manager while at the register (not realizing that he had actually been in the side we were on the whole time (also not paying attention to our table needing service), to let him know about the ungodly loud music situation and the awful service, how when I mentioned it to the waiter he just dismissed me and said exactly this "Oh it's because of the parties" and that if you plan to blast music on that side warn us first or seat us somewhere else. Your manager Carlos T. is his name - just said "oh, sorry". Nothing else. And just looked at me like ok are you done. Meanwhile another manager is tapping him on the shoulder calling him to celebrate another party - I guess that was more important than my conversation since he seemed ready to walk off to go party. My husband and I have been coming to this location for over 14 years - this is our second time bringing our kids thinking they would enjoy it again, the service hasn't always been great but I have never made an issue before the food has been why we come - but what I experienced this last time and the clear preference for large parties - make me realize where your restaurant and management place preference. So, for me Spanish Flowers is now closed, we won't be back, and my google review will reflect my last experience there. I have no reason to return, nor want to. But you need to know how your managers respond to customers - and if you want to celebrate parties that's fine, but don't seat families in the areas you plan to blast rap music - not everyone enjoys loud music or wants to be forced to celebrate in someone else's party. I wasn't there to congratulate anyone, but I was sure made part of the celebration! It's very disrespectful to your patrons who want a civil dining experience. BTW I spent $74 on food we didn't finish because we were so uncomfortable and disregarded, and what we got was a ruined family night, thanks for that too. That is certainly the last of my hard earned money you will get. If you want to refund my tab, that will be appreciated (Table 403, on 6/4/23, Ticket #D32, $74.55), if not no problem. Maybe you will take this time to educate your managers and ensure that ALL of your guests have a pleasant experience, not just the large parties! Thanks.
I sent this same through their contact us page on the website today as well. Will see if...
Read moreOn 2/6/24 at 11:03pm I went to eat and try have a good late dinner . From the get go we sat and tried to order we waited and waited for almost 10min a very long time. I had to get up from my seat to get someone to serve us. Then we ordered chips and queso, first that I never got the dinner nore the chips and queso. We finally got afther another 15 to 20 min later. I waited for the server again never came we did not have any spoon or fork to eat, I mean the service is bad just like this pizza place I also went with rude & bad customer service. So I finally went to get my utensils by own myself lol . If you ever como to this establishment go make your own food in this dump.At the end of the tables next to mine. Still waiting for my order. I went to the men room witch was firty as heck, I didn't want my night to get ruined by bad service. Since I was waiting for a long time for my order . I diceded to get a margarita from the bar since I was on my way back to my table with my food with no forks to eat. The bar tender ignored me and yelled no im not serving you because we're closed! What the heck, the food is late ,the service is worse naw. I can not get a margarita naw ? The manger was right next to me flat out dined me a drink then I told him but I'm eating here at a table and the server is not attending to us his name Campos D for table 213 in the old room. I told the manegar you dont want to sale me a mangerthis this is crazy you don't want to service a paying customer hell he realizes that I'm a customer & told me your eating here yes the only reason I went to get my own margarita at the bar is because Campos will take forever for my drinks and food. Extremely bad service i told him. This restaurant claims to be the best Mx authentic but worst service ever. What top it off was when I was denied a drink and then in front of me they service the table next to me with a margarita when I was flat out denied one. The so-called maneger saw it after I complained about that. I'm baffled about this service and how disorganized. The manager did not know what to say then he said next time you come back. I will have my food comp. Yeah right this place flat out denied me drink took to dam long with my food this manager was blow away himself with how bad the service was and did not do anything to get my food & drink in a orderly fashion. This is establishment is for paying customers I'm being denied service in as a paying customer who ordereds food and drink s thiers. I don't see no excus and why I was not being served . Also this same night thier was a assault outside the police was thier . You have watch your back as you walk out to your car too dam never going back. Worst place to eat I don't how this place is even open very unprofessional DO NOT GO...
Read moreSpanish Flowers has been a Houston restaurant staple for many decades. Even as a small child, I remember an occasion visit here filled with chips, salsa, and cheese enchiladas in a humble but nice setting.
I took a date here a few nights ago, my first time here in quite a while, considering I don't frequent the area much anymore. We walked in on a Friday night around 8pm and we were seated immediately, with an option to sit in their upstairs section or a slight wait if we preferred downstairs. We took the offer to sit upstairs, and arrived to a fairly generously sized table. The waiter introduced himself, but unfortunately, I have forgotten his name. He greeted us and took our drink orders, recommending a few things based on our tastes when we weren't sure what we wanted. Chips and salsa soon followed, and plenty of time given for us to decide on what to order. I wound up getting the Tex Mex Enchiladas, my date, the Chicken Flauntas. The wait for the food was fairly short, coming in about 20 minutes after our order was placed. I asked for some Pico De Gallo on the side, and the waiter brought a separate, very generously sized bowl of Pico for me which was a nice touch.
The food itself here at Spanish Flowers to me has always been good, not great. The food is fairly simple and straight forward, but I always feel like it's a bit underseasoned if seasoned at all. Not saying that it's bad, just, lacking a little something. Despite that, the food is always fresh and the ingredients are pretty good quality, so no issues there.
The drinks were great, I believe I ordered a strawberry margarita, which was balanced well between a fruity drink without having too harsh a bite of liquor in it, my date got some type of cocktail that had jalapeños and cucumber in it and she enjoyed hers as well, so props to the bartender.
Really the only drawback of the experience was I'm guessing is because we were upstairs in a different section, they had a DJ up there and the music was pretty hard to talk over. It wasn't ear ringingly loud, however it was a challenge talking with the waiter and my date due to how loud it was. I wished the front staff let us know that there was a DJ upstairs and it may be a bit loud, in that case I would've requested to be in a different section to have a quieter atmosphere. It is what it is, we were both pretty hungry as we hadn't ate all day and it wasn't completely disturbing, just hindering when you're trying to carry a conversation.
Overall, I still recommend Spanish Flowers to people who are looking for an authentic Mexican experience with good drinks, fairly priced food, and great service who find themselves...
