Been going to the N. Main location since it opened, 1989 or so. I recall the nice young lady running it, saying that her folks had another location, near Moody Park My fave Raspa Stand in Houston, I might be responsible for a goodly portion of the 'Limon Natural' that this location sells. Almost always - consistently very good. And busy. Yes, occasionally a fly flies around. And yes occasionally the counter is sticky. When the gals get a minute, they tend to it just fine. A kid picking up Sno Cone spills some , every so often . At times Ive waited a while, the 67 elotes the folks in front of me orderered- just took several minutes to prepare. Over the years the gals have come n gone, I'll get to know them some and they'll inevitably smile warmly, and, be surprised that I can speak their language to a degree. And appreciatively acknowledge when I leave a tip, or pay for the kid behind me and ask the gal to keep whats left.
Nearly always , they'll fill the cup up to the brim. Its hard to get it off the counter cleanly, quite honestly
Ive tried some other flavors, my 4 kids have tried around 40 I'd reckon. I was a young Fireman on the ambulance in the late 80's, retired a few months back. How many visits ? 500 Maybe. Many hundreds - Im sure. 3 days in a row on several summer days. And lately - open late- Este me gusta mas que puedo decir. Been to the Irvington loc. , too.
The last station I worked at, 20's was in Magnolia Park, another Tampico exists there. 30 or so visits. My amigo, el musico Rogelio, sings and plays outside some mornings.
Drove the Firetruck, and often took a route to get closer when returning to the station after a run. In the truck, we do things democratically. If I got just 1 more yea- then it was 2- 2, and I was headed for a quick raspa. The Capt. had the final say, of course. A good Capt wants his bros. ( and sisters ) hydrated, and happy. Most days it was 3 or 4 yea votes . A few times , just my one yea, - Usually, I had a raspa in the cup holder a few min. later. A 1/2 mile or so later, and backing in the station - it was about perfecto, in the slightly melted cup o' feliz. With no AC in the pumper, it should be the s.o.p. for a Fire Dept in Houston. Would be, if I was the Fire Chief.
Consistently very good. Tasty, barato and a great symbol of Houston.
Truly, my favorite Raspa stand in...

Read more👍 This is a fantastic snow cone stand located in North Houston, relatively close to the Heights and not too far from Downtown. 👍 They serve the best elote I've had in Houston. Unlike the "lazy elote" that some restaurants serve (which is just corn on the cob with a bit of mayo and spice), their elote features kernel corn topped with generous mayo, cheese, and spice. 👍 The Cheeto-pie is a refreshing twist on the classic Frito pie. 👍 Their snow cones are excellent, too. You can even ask for a cream topping. I initially thought it sounded unappealing, but it pairs surprisingly well with certain flavors, like root beer. 👎 The only downside is that the establishment offers only outdoor seating. This can be uncomfortable for customers who don’t want to risk making a mess in their car. 🤜 Foreign Language: Most employees are native Spanish speakers, which can sometimes make placing an order challenging. However, there is usually someone available who can take your...
