Gator Motorsport is the best Lotus dealership in the Midwest, and one of the best (if not THE best) in the country. It is one of the few Lotus dealers that deal primarily with Lotus cars, and their pricing and knowledge of the brand reflects this. I have a Lotus dealership less than a 30 minute drive from me, and I still choose to make the 4 hour trip to this dealership for any and all servicing. Contrary to almost every other dealership I have experienced, this one is full of car enthusiasts from the service desk, to the service department, to the owner himself. These people live and breathe Lotus and are passionate about everything car-related. It's not a bad place just to spend an afternoon if you love cars.
I ordered my Evora GT from Gator Motorsport in the summer of 2019 after they reached out to me to see if I wanted to test drive a pre-owned 400 they had in-stock back then. At the time, even that car was a stretch for me in my late 20s, but they treated me like royalty from the moment I arrived until I left - never like I was beneath anyone or couldn't afford to be there. And they have continued to do so ever since. Now, I could not imagine owning any other sports car, not only because the Lotus is fantastic, but because I know I would be hard-pressed to ever find another dealership/service department to take better care of me and my vehicle and treat my wife and I like family.
I cannot say enough positive things about Gator, and I have even gotten some of my other car friends into the brand. I played a role in convincing a highschool friend of mine who lives nearby into buying an Exige. Part of his decision was made because he knew he could count on Gator for service and support just as I do with my Evora. He only takes it to Gator, and our local dealership is even closer to him.
Their new showroom is gorgeous. A majority of the staff owns or has owned Lotus cars. They host LotusPalooza annually in the late summer in the Carmel Arts & Design District. There's not much this dealership doesn't do or won't do to please their customers. 10/10 would recommend and do all the time. You will find my name all over the Lotus Facebook groups shamelessly praising Gator much like this review. Now if Lotus would just release that Emira GT they'd have...
Read moreI've traveled 400 miles to buy a car I loved, but I never thought I would say I'd travel that far just for a dealer experience. I think they actually might deliver that far away, but what I'm trying to say is that I've never experienced a dealer anything like Gator, and would jump through a lot of hoops just to go through them again.
I've now been through their sales, service, and detailing departments, and you can tell that every single member of their staff is madly in love with cars, even and especially the ones they sell! Think for a moment how rare and fantastic it is for the staff of a dealership to love each and every car they pick to sell. A bunch of the 13 staff members own, drive, and track Lotuses, 3 of them Evoras, and since that's what I was looking to buy it was especially helpful and confidence-inspiring to hear them genuinely rave about their own cars.
There might be better dealerships out there, but I'm serious in saying that I can't imagine how. The people here are pleasant and genuine above all; also professional, efficient, insanely knowledgeable and have great attention to detail. And if you're looking to buy or service Lotus, Rossion, or (soon to be) Magnum in particular near Indy, Gator Motorsport is it, and...
Read morelooked for the perfect car for over five years, and finally found it last spring at Gator. I bought an amazing 2011 Elise from Brian, and couldn't be happier with the car, transaction, transparency, and treatment. Dino and his crew have been amazing at keeping it in fine fettle. I wouldn't go anywhere else for Lotus cars or service. Plus there's lots of car-eye candy to oggle while you're there. It's all good. Thanks for doing what you do.
Update: 1/2025 I look forward to every visit to Gator. It’s not just the cars, it’s the people: they love cars, know my name, know my car, and are friendly, nice, and smart. They communicate well. They let you know what needs doing, and what doesn’t. What it will cost. How long it might take. (With caveats for Lotus part sourcing.) And they have an amazing new facility, with lots of very fun cars in it. It’s a candy store. Is the best kind of dangerous place for people who love these cars. If you ever think about getting a Lotus, this is the place to go. Both to buy it, and to keep it going. They have been doing that for my car for about eight years now. I won’t go...
