EDIT: THIS PLACE IS A HUGE SCAM. I'VE BEEN TRYING TO FIX THIS SITUATION FOR OVER A YEAR AND THEY CONTINUE TO IGNORE ME. I SPENT OVER $100 FOR LITERALLY A BLANK CD. WITH NOTHING ON IT.
I literally want to cry. I've been going through ancestry stuff at my grandparents house, plus old pictures from my childhood that I took. I got all of them together and brought them in to get printed. Some I had no idea where the prints were and others were ruined, but I had negatives to all so I was very excited to be able to see them. I dropped off mine and my grandpa's together and told them I needed the negatives turned into prints and asked how much they were. I had a different variety of sizes so it was several different prices. No biggie. Then he said, "would you like me to put these on a CD, too?" I said sure! In my mind.. that indicates that it comes WITH what I'm already purchasing. He said give him about a week and he'd call me. I waited, and waited and waited. A week past then 2 weeks and then 3 weeks. I finally called them after 3 weeks to ask what the heck was going on and the lady was like "oh I'm sorry.. we were supposed to call you last night but we must have missed you. They're ready for pick up!" Well that really rubbed me the wrong way it had been THREE WEEKS and the excuse of they were supposed to call me the day prior just seemed like an excuse but anyhow.. I sent my best friend down there to get them since he was close. He brought them to me and I was soooo excited. I started opening everything and... and.... THERE ARE NO PRINTS!!!!! I notice an envelope with a CD in it and I just start crying. I just paid $138 and some change.... FOR A FREAKING CD!!!!!! Not only was I crying at the fact that I had no prints and was really looking forward to looking at these pictures with my grandpa but I was also crying at the fact that I paid so much for a lousy CD!!!!! I haven't even opened the CD but from the notes on the outside there is absolutely no way all the pictures are even on this thing. I'll be looking at it in the next few days and I will be even more upset if they aren't all on here. So many people recommended this place, and I can't believe how much of a disappointment they turned...

Update 03/10/25: I finally got the chance to visit the shop while I was in Indy. Disclaimer - you can park in front of the store. The side parking is awkward to get in and out of. They are beside a triangle of stop lights which is out of their control (confusing? yes - but you will see what I mean if you ever visit)
Very large store with plenty of everything. I looked at both their new and used sides. Very pleasant staff, everyone to spoke with was friendly and knowledgeable. I was also able to meet Michael and thank him in person.
Just a heads up, 90% of their used inventory is on their ebay site. They only have a small fraction of their used items on display. I was hoping to be able to just look through their selection. They have mostly everything in the back. You have to get a sales person to pull it up and bring it out for you to look at. Which I did not ask for them to do. Imo it's a little bit more effort I want the associate to put in for me to look at something. Although I dont think the employees would mind at all. I'd feel bad if they went back and forth to grab different lenses. So from a browsing/shopping standpoint - their new side is much better than their used side. I did go in with the intention of spending $500-$1000. I wanted to get a used lens to pair with either the Leica I purchased on my original review or for my Sony. Unfortunately, I did not leave with anything today. My ebay experience was better compared to visiting in person. Overall 4/5 for me.
Original: I don't exactly know where to begin but I will start by saying the buying experience here was great! This was my first real big purchase online and these guys have been amazing to throughout the process.
Michael and Shelby were both very pleasant and helpful. I called multiple times and they were patient and answered all my questions.
The camera was well packaged and came in perfect condition. It looks exactly like how it was pictured in their listing. I've havent visited their store yet, but I plan to in the future. The online process was great! I will definitely buy more from them...
Read moreI have always wanted to go to Roberts Camera. When I finally did I wasn’t expecting it to be such a bad experience. All because of one staff member. I called before hand to ask what kind of gear they would buy. The staff on the phone was very friendly and told me they would buy light sets and etc. Basically everything I wanted to get rid of they would consider buying. I was happy and loaded all my gears in the car. A short Asian young man was helping me. I showed him one of my lens hood which has a crack on it and asked him if could recommend a glue to fix it. He laughed sarcastically at me, like my question was some kind of joke, and said “I don’t know anything about that kind of stuff.” I was shocked and confused. So you work at a camera store, and you don’t know anything about lens hood, which is ok, because everybody has their own fields of expertise, but as a staff member helping customers, why couldn’t you tell your customer nicely that you cannot help but you can bring another staff to help? Why is it so hard? And he looked into my lighting kit bag and said to me, “I saw no lights in your bag, but only stands, I cannot take any of this.” Apparently he did not take a good look into my bag or he doesn’t speak the English language. I got two stands with a backdrop , two light stands, two umbrellas, two softboxes, backdrop clamps in the bag, only the bulbs are missing. He could have said “Sorry we only take professional lighting kit.” Instead of “I saw no lights in the bag but only stands. “ The whole trip to the store turned out to be a trip about rude and unprofessional staff laughing at me and talking down to me about my gears. It was such a disappointment. Although other people in the store seemed so nice I don’t think I will ever go back. I would just sell my unwanted gears online or recycle them. And buy all my...
