Flags of all 50 states (and at least certain US territories) are flown on poles. The square is part of the rectangular downtown area between Meridian St and Pennsylvania St, used for parades and the like. More a grassy park today, this area was a paved asphalt plaza prior to the 1976 bicentennial. Also known as Veterans Memorial Plaza. Indiana War Memorial lies to the south; American Legion Mall is to the north.

We thought it was a great place to stop and take a look around the north part of the downtown area. The wife spied a wedding being photographed so we watched the wedding party and enjoyed the moment. We never really drove around the downtown area of Indy before and at least for this Saturday it was really easy to get around. Thanks two chicks and hammer we love your city and...
