Big Lots — Local services in Jackson Township

It's a real shame. It used to be an adventure to go to Big Lots/Odd Lots. They always had something new and different to find. You never knew what closeout or overrun merchandise they had found to purchase and sell at a great discount. Unfortunately, now all their stores carry pretty much the same merchandise all the time. Mostly cheap products at cheap prices, and moderate products at moderate prices. There doesn't seem to be much to differentiate them from everyone else anymore. A large portion of their store space is dedicated to cheap furniture at cheap prices. Most of their in store and online advertising appears to be geared toward this, too. I suppose that's wonderful if you are looking for assemble yourself furniture like most of the big box and outlet stores sell. Personally, I miss the adventure of the deeply discounted random finds. I have to go to the few other stores in town that still operate that way. Bottom line, a great place for consistent, predictable low price inventory at each location each day. Saturday June 29th my mom and I went into this location to get some supplies for our pool such as pool noodles, floats etc. A worker not sure of his name but he was bald and wore glasses, was standing in the middle of an aisle I politely said “ excuse me” he then turned and hit my cart into the box beside me and said “ well excuse me” in a smart tone while shaking his head... I’m not one to get loud in public places but he was way out of character by telling me to “ watch out because he was looking for something for a customer” which is fine, but to be rude to a fellow CUSTOMER is wrong and for that reason I will not...

I hadn't been to this location in a while but I can see they recently tried to do some remodeling and redesign of the layout which looked fairly decent. Product selection on a lot of good items was sporadic and I feel things could have been a bit more logically organized but they also have some items I've found out difficult to find other places so I was happy about that.

The cashiers where friendly despite being very short staffed so that was very nice to see. Overall good experience and I will return to this...
