Don Pancho Mexican Restaurant-Jackson — Restaurant in Jackson

I came to this location with my family. Couple of my family members had many questions and the waitress was getting rude about it. First of all, Mexican food is my favorite food and I’ve been to many different authentic restaurants in bigger cities because I don’t generally live in the Jackson area. I partially share food with people because the portion is a lot of me. When I told the waitress about sharing food, she said that she will charge us extra for chips and salsa. I have never been charged for chips and salsa. Also, they have very low portion for chips and salsa compared to a normal mexican restaurant. The price on the menu is surprisingly pricy compared to normal mexican restaurants as well. I understand, they just got a new menu because there is no other mexican restaurant nearby so they get business of course. She did give extra chips and salsa afterwards but we weren’t in the mood anymore because she basically denied it and we didn’t want to get charge for it. The waitress had an attitude when we said no. We also never got refills for our drinks, we didn’t want to ask or we might get charged again. Who knows? Normally, water and soda gets free refill so we don’t know if they charge at this place too. Also, my sister got vegetarian food and they put chicken in her plate. My sister does eat chicken so she didn’t really care but she let the waitress know. Also, the waitress basically asked for a tip. We give tip to EVERYONE, no matter how bad the service or food was. She took forever to give me the to-go box. The rest of my family left and paid while I was waiting forever. The waitress was like, you should leave tip. I told her to go check the table because I did leave tip. We have all worked in small businesses and we give tip to everyone. People have moods so we understand but she was just completely mean and not understanding at all. We will NEVER come to this restaurant again because even the food was really bad for us. And they put chicken in my sister’s plate when she asked for vegetarian. My sister said it was fine because the waitress might take forever and she was scared that they might do something to the plate. It’s sad how we have to be scared for something, we paid for... We honestly should’ve left after she said, she will charge us for chips and salsa. Tf? She also charged us for two rice when we only got one rice. This place is overpriced for no reason. They are the only mexican restaurant near the shopping area so it’s more convenient to go there but I don’t really recommend...

This is a classic Mexican restaurant similar to those you can find all around the United States. To start, the salsa was chunky and not that watery, which I liked, and the chips were very crisp and consistently came out warm. Staff was quite attentive, they were not that busy at noonish, and kept chips and drinks full during my visit. I ordered the Enchiladas Suizas and was happy with my choice though not blown away. The chili sauce was rich but not too flavorful and played well with the chicken enchiladas, rice and beans. It was good size for the price as well and came out fast. I would say it was exactly what I expected to receive and was content with my meal. My friend ordered the Tacos Al Pastor and ate them but did not seem as satisfied with them as I was. They had a good variety of hot sauces i.e. Valentina and el yucateco, but the sauce that came with the tacos al pastor was a little strange. All together I would happily eat here again because the food and service was exceptional and as expected at a reasonable price for a sit down meal.

Had full Family dinner There Sunday night It took forever to get anything to the table Even though every table around us was empty Not busy at all. By the time we got entrees we were full from chips n salsa. So wasted money there. And then order some to go Food for friends So they messed up on their order. When I called the restaurant next day(they were close by the time food got to friends) And ask for manager because our to go food was not right and Lady said she is the manager and she was in kitchen when food was being made and it was made correctly she saw the whole thing. Didn’t even want the refund Just wanted the dish to be replaced and she said unless we have full plates they can’t replacement it.
