This has by far been the worst experience with a health care facility i have ever encountered. Multiple dealings with this hospital has left me with a sense of dysphoria due to the dissaray and dealings with staff. Regardless what the emergency may be, being properly attended to seems to be the least of staffs concern. In my personal experience as well as my witnessing of events that have transpired during admitance within this facility; i have seen/experienced incomplete procedures, an utter lack of urgency, patronizing and condensending interaction from staff and other details that have left me to question competency of this facility and its members. This review is by no means an effort to attack or slander this establishment. This is a narrative of an individual who has had multiple dealings here. Unless there is absolutely no other option to do so, I personally would recommend using another healthcare facility in order to recieve adequate treatment in a timely fashion as well as to rectify any health problems without error or disparagement. Im hoping this facility, for the sake of our cities residents will do their very best to hold itself to the highest of standards and correct the issues commonly addressed at its location.
Edit: This is being reposted due to an incident occurring 3/24/2025. I had brought an individual to this location (after reading my own post from five years ago; I definitely had a lack of my own better judgement by returning) two days prior. They were suffering from gastrointestinal issues in which they have previous documented medical history. The patient was severely dehydrated due to persistent onset vomiting and nausea. They could not hold down food or water and had been afflicted in the past by a stomach ulcer in which the condition was similar. Patient was left writhing in pain in the waiting room vomiting until they ultimately lost consciousness hitting their head about 3-4 hours into the wait; in which the staff then administered zofran through an IV. They were then given a room 45 minutes after the incident. They were unable to retrieve urinalysis due to the extreme levels of dehydration nor could they conduct a blood test because they were unable to accurately access the patients veins (arms were left severely bruised in multiple areas). No MRI. CT or any sort of tests were conducted before the patient was discharged for nausea. A few days later she is still vomiting, in extreme pain and unable to hold down foods or liquids. Due to the severity of the symptoms patient is unable to go to an urgent care as she is differed to the hospital. I called the hospital to inquire about the next steps or where she can be seen following this interaction. I was immediately met with the most disrespectful, unprofessional, unwarranted level of disrespect and hostility by someone in the ER department , refusing to give me their name or title.
I immediately drove to the hospital to speak with the head of patient relations who said they will follow up and had agreed that the behavior expressed by the staff was unacceptable. However because there are no ways of tracking the individual without a name (obviously) I believe the situation will end mute. 5 years later I am still in shock that this is a...
Read moreOnslow Memorial is unprofessional and will not do right by you as a patient. In 2024 I arrived at this hospitals ER on a Sunday and was complaining of weakness and heart palpitations. They had everyone standing in a line that went out the door and were checking them in one by one which took over 35 minutes instead of taking names then signing people in so they could sit. Now any Healthcare professional will tell you that a 12 lead ecg is standard for heart complaints of any sort and will take about 5 to 10 minutes to administer. Not at Onslow they do a short 20 second check and tell you all is well. Then when I was supposed to see a doctor they had a physician assistant who acted like they were barely out of school tell me that I have heartburn and that the doctor had no time to see me in more or less words. I was then escorted to two nurses who took blood samples then realized none were ordered and threw them away before sending me to be checked out. Nobody could answer questions and all told me I had to see my personal doctor. Next I get a bill for over $1000 for an visit and ER doctor I never saw and since the bill was not layed out by item i could not understand it so when I asked the hospital what it is and if this was the ER bill as well they said yes. I paid the bill completely off and thought nothing of it. Onslow then sends me an ER facility bill for over $1000 and of course I questioned it and the story changed to we bill it all separately. I contacted the hospital patient advocate who I told this information too and that since then I have been diagnosed with heart palpitations and am taking medication to help with my health issues. So I said I will pay for the pharmacy and facility but not the tests or anything else because it was done wrong. She even agreed the right ecg was not done and that the blood being thrown out was wrong. I contested the bill. Now they hospital and the advocate office sends me a letter stating that since I don't have any proof even though I have a photo of the Ecg and was able to describe all the staff that took the tests and blood work and provided evidence of neglect by the doctor I must pay the bill in full. must patients wear a bodycam to be treated now?! The patient advocate is the hospital advocate, and the hospital is so full of subcontracted staff they and the advocates will pass off responsibility for the neglect of your health and then tell you there is nothing you can do about it so pay us and even insult you by giving you the number a payment plan advisor all In a letter instead of calling like they will tell you they will make. I am very capable of paying this bill but since nothing was done right I thought the hospital would at least do the right thing and lower it or actually investigate its staff. This hospital is a revolving door of neglect, deception, and unprofessional behavior. Look at the other reviews and see how their answers are clearly responded to by an automated response. Proof right there. Save your and your loved ones time, money, and health, go somewhere else or enjoy a $2000 heart burn...
Read moreI have now had 2 family members die at this hospital. Their negligence killed my mother and my son literally went down hill from day one. They weren’t equipped as I was told to take care of everything he needed and they didn’t call me when he fell , I found out the next day from another nurse that asked me if they called me, or when his status changed at 2 am. Thank god for the nurse that came on duty that morning called me , otherwise I wouldn’t have been there when he passed a little after an hour of me arriving. My son laid there more than 5 hours gasping without me being there. Though he had a few great nurses, the hospital is no more than an urgent care with beds. I changed his bedding several times due to it being soiled and he was left laying in it. The night before he passed, I started questioning why his heart rate was so high when they checked his vitals and was told it was normal, which I knew was not the case, one nurse tried to patronize me with some off the wall reason, made them check his records and sure enough, his hr had never been that high. He had the hiccups for several hours, which I learned from my dads hospital stay in a different hospital should have been a sign of a major organ in distress, when brought to their attention, seemed to be no big deal. My son who was critically ill was never put on any monitors to monitor his blood pressure which seem to change, his heart rate, etc. It was left up to him while on pain medication to tell them. The iv machines constantly go off, the nurses can’t hear them so you call and wait for however long for them to come. Only to find out they left the clamp on and he wasn’t getting the meds or the tubing was pinched in the machine. He wanted to walk around early on but they are so understaffed, that didn’t happen so the swelling from fluids just got worse. Then he just kept getting weaker and weaker till he couldn’t. Had to ask several times for the bathroom to be cleaned. One time we waited and waited for them to come check the IV only to find out there was atleast a 6” air bubble in the tube, and was told, well that wouldn’t have been good… The lack of “supplies” they do not carry for certain conditions lead to a bacterial infection that set him back. I could go on and on about the incompetence of this hospital. I was too mentally distraught over my mother to do anything but this time it was my child. I will be filing a grievance for both my mom and sons subpar care and neglect. I will not be quiet anymore! I see all these awards and I just don’t know how when most have horrible...
