I’ve struggled finding a hairdresser for a very long time for multiple reasons outside of moving all the time! I have very thick, long hair that has a bit of a wave to lose curl pattern. Everyone I’ve been to previously would cut my hair for straight hair and I’d often go for days without washing my hair because of how long it took to style and blow dry straight just to have frizz and oily scalp within 24 hours – too much work!! It was also usually very blunt, wet cuts that showed every line that was chopped which was less than cute.

After trying every curly girl method and product under the sun I’d pretty much given up on achieving my natural hair as well and just kind of let it do what it wanted or had it in braids most of the time. I can say after one session with Jessica and having my first at home wash by myself today, I’M IN LOVE! Jessica is so thorough and is an amazing listener who really cares about the client, their experience, and helping them achieve their hair goals. We found a cut I was comfortable with and a THREE PRODUCT MAX experience that has worked so well in just under a week. My curls are back, I’m not greasy or oily, I can refresh so easily, and I owe each of those successes to Jessica. I also got follow up emails with my method, products, and instructions straight after my appointment which was SOO helpful when going to wash my hair and style it alone for the first time. I already felt confident leaving the appointment, but now it’s 10x the confidence watching it dry into my beautiful, natural curls! For my styling, I was looking for as minimal as I could go so with no defuser needed and three products, I’ve achieved exactly what my goal was.

I came into The Curl We Live In overwhelmed and honestly a bit skeptical—I'd never had a haircut specifically for curly hair and thought I just had “a little wave.” Jessica changed everything.

She asked thoughtful questions about what I liked and didn’t like, walked through my (nonexistent) routine, and helped me figure out what kind of effort I was actually willing to put in (spoiler: basically none). She didn’t just give me a haircut—she gave me options and confidence.

Even more important for me: Jessica took the time to really listen to my concerns about my health, hair loss, and ingredient sensitivities. She heard me when I said I needed gluten-free products and couldn’t tolerate a lot of the so-called “natural” stuff that my body has decided to hate. She -already- used gentle, lightweight products that actually worked—and we even tossed my old ones right then and there because they were doing me zero favors.

Y’all… my hair went from a frizzy hot mess express to actual, defined curls—with minimal effort and barely any product. Turns out, when someone actually knows what they’re doing with curls, it doesn’t have to be scary or high-maintenance. I left feeling confident, understood, and lowkey amazed that my hair could do this.

AMAZING EXPERIENCE!!!!

I have really long curly hair and I barely get my hair cut because it’s hard to find someone who knows what they’re doing without chopping it all off!! I went to a salon a few years ago and I’m not sure what they put in my hair, but I lost the majority of my curls and I was devastated. I heard about Jessica from a friend and gave it a shot.
