My first ( but not last ) stay at the Riverdale Inn was brief but very memorable! When my husband and I arrived at the Inn we were greeted by Eric ( he and his wife own and manage the Riverdale Inn ). He was super pleasant, checked us in and familiarized us with both the Inn and the neighborhood surrounding the Inn. |Our room was located in the guest house behind the main house. We chose it because it’s on the first floor and I was worried that I might have issues navigating the stairway in the main house. I also liked that we were a little secluded too as it was super quiet where we were. Everything about the room was comfortable and premium feeling! My husband especially loved the pillows they use at the Inn. Softest pillows he has ever laid his head on. |We spent a good amount of time exploring the neighborhood and parks near the Inn. There are lots of local restaurant's, bars and shopping within just a few blocks. The St. John’s River is nearby as are a few parks so we were not bored with so much to do! |Another highlight is the breakfast served daily and included with your stay! It’s cooked to order, tasty and filling! We took ours outside on the patio out front because we brought our dogs with us. Eric let us know we were welcome to bring the dogs inside but it was nice out so al fresco was our choice! You also get French press coffee and it was fantastic! |Overall the Riverdale Inn was a charming and relaxing place to stay! I’d recommend staying there whether you are traveling for business or pleasure. The owners and the staff care about providing an experience you won’t soon forget. ||One thing to note, our room was upgraded by the owner before we checked in from the smaller connected guest room because I suspect they wanted us to be comfortable with our 2 dogs. This was not a request from us and there was no upcharge to us for this. We definitely appreciated and were surprised and delighted by the gesture. I feel like whether this had happened or not this review would still be the same. We really wanted to take a break from our life in SC and the Riverdale Inn staff made sure we had...
Read moreBRACE YOURSELF!!!! This is absolutely the best place to stay in Jacksonville. I’m here for a week at a time every three months for work. TRUST ME!!!! Located in the heart of Jax this place is a diamond in the rough! It’s tucked away in a very convenient location I in central Jacksonville. Parking is perfect, and recessed away from traffic, unlike all the big chain places. The establishment is so very clearly well kept and I could tell that even though I arrived late in the evening. I was very politely treated by a staff member at the time of my arrival. Checking in was fast and simple and they were very clearLy ready for my arrival PERFECT! She explained the amenities such as the common area, doors, parking, the bar, and close by local attractions/ places I may want to eat. My room you ask? Third floor, open concept, astonishingly well decorated, a walk in shower, a stocked fridge, two cups of wine, and a small bottle of 2015 red already there. TAKE ME TO HEAVEN NOW!!!!! I missed breakfast the first morning due a meeting. The second day I didn’t. DONT MISS BREAKFAST!!!! I met the proprietors to this amazing business on my second morning, and truly this establishment is a reflection of their hard work and dedication. Back to breakfast. The coffee? Fresh pressed and ready for action. Western omelette that packs a six shooter. Bacon perfectly cooked as if chef Ramsey prepared them himself. Grits that would make your grandmama throw in the towel. Toast crisp, and light as air. EAT HERE! I slept like a king every night, the air conditioner in my room is TOP NOTCH. The establishment is literally a stones throw from the water. You won’t leave this place Long enough to find out. The bar, fully stocked with all the liquors from wells to premiums, wines, sodas, mixers, and supplies. Priced Extremely well.
I’ve worked across the globe, and this has to be one of the best places I have ever stayed. I will be bringing my famiLy with me in my next trip because of the...
Read moreWish the experience was better. Staff and location were great. However, lots of hair from previous guest on the robes they had in our room, a TV that didn’t work in the room, and sadly, a breakfast that was sub par to say the least. With such great reviews online, we thought we were in for a treat, unfortunately, that was not the case. The bed was comfy but not worth the price they charged us. Sadly, we will not stay here again, big let down with no resolution offered when these issues were brought to their attention.
In regards to your sarcastic response:
Offer to fix the TV was at 10:30pm after my wife and I were in bed and comfy. We had no interest in having a tech come into our room at 10:30pm to fix a TV that shouldn't have been broken.
(Funny you left this out of your response) My wife got out of the shower the morning of check out, put on the robe you leave for guests, just to find hair from the previous guest all over the unwashed robe. The fact that this was at 7a the day of check out, left us no time to complain about a robe that should have been washed before hung for another guest.
I can understand to go food. However, an omelet that was made to order and bitten into, less than 5 minutes from being on the stove, should hold just fine. However, the overcooked, half burnt bacon bits you put in the container had no chance of holding. I literally didn't even give it to my dog. I did give her the eggs though, she enjoyed them.
I never asked for a refund. I brought these issues to your attention at the earliest I could. I simply left a review based off our experience. Your response to these issues are a reflection of our experience. 2/5 and that is somewhat generous...
