If you’re craving bold, authentic flavors inspired by the vibrant street food scenes of Southeast Asia, Hawkers Asian Street Food is the place to go. My recent visit left me thoroughly impressed, not only by the quality of the food but also by the lively atmosphere and attentive service. The standout dish of the evening was the Curry Laksa, a bowl of pure comfort and flavor that transported me straight to the bustling streets of Malaysia.
Ambiance and Atmosphere Hawkers Asian Street Food has a fun, energetic vibe that perfectly captures the spirit of Asian street markets. The restaurant is bustling with activity, featuring an open kitchen where you can watch the chefs expertly prepare dishes right before your eyes. The decor is modern yet nostalgic, with colorful murals, string lights, and communal tables that encourage a sense of community. Whether you’re dining solo or with a group, the lively atmosphere makes the experience feel special.
The Food The menu at Hawkers is a culinary journey through Southeast Asia, offering everything from small plates to hearty noodle bowls. The Curry Laksa was the star of my meal, and it’s easy to see why this dish has such a devoted following.
Curry Laksa: This dish was an absolute masterpiece. The broth was rich, creamy, and packed with layers of flavor—spicy, sweet, and savory all at once. The coconut milk base provided a luxurious texture, while the curry paste and spices added a satisfying heat that lingered just enough without being overwhelming. The bowl was generously filled with rice noodles, tender slices of chicken, plump shrimp, tofu puffs, and a soft-boiled egg. Each component soaked up the flavorful broth, creating a harmonious blend of textures and tastes. Topped with fresh bean sprouts and a sprinkle of cilantro, the Curry Laksa was a bowl of pure comfort that left me craving more.
Other Highlights: While the Curry Laksa was the standout, the menu offers plenty of other tempting options. From crispy spring rolls to savory bao buns, there’s something for everyone. The portions are generous, making it a great spot for sharing dishes with friends or family.
Service The service at Hawkers was friendly and efficient. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and happy to offer recommendations. Despite the busy atmosphere, the food arrived promptly, and the staff ensured that we had everything we needed throughout the meal. The open kitchen added an element of transparency and excitement, as we could see the care and skill that went into preparing each dish.
Overall Impression Hawkers Asian Street Food is a must-visit for anyone who loves bold, authentic Asian flavors. The Curry Laksa was a revelation—a dish that perfectly balances richness, spice, and texture. Combined with the vibrant atmosphere and excellent service, this restaurant offers a dining experience that’s both satisfying and memorable.
Whether you’re a fan of Southeast Asian cuisine or just looking to try something new, Hawkers Asian Street Food delivers on all fronts. I’ll definitely be returning to explore more of their menu, but the Curry Laksa will always have a special place in my heart (and stomach).

Read moreI feel I’m doing a true public service writing this, how this place has good reviews is truly one of the great mysteries of the world. We arrived at the restaurant and was informed there was a 20 minute wait, No problem. So we decided to wait at the bar, My husband ordered me a couple of cocktails, I think they were called tiger tails, and tasted delightful. We watched many tables become available, But they just sat there uncleared and dirty For the longest time. Once we did get seated, we ordered From the menu we wanted to select An array of different dishes from the menu, which we did, Firstly, the duck bao buns, terrible, because , the buns were stone cold Chewy and hard, And the contents portion size wise were absolutely minuscule, I’m not even sure it was real duck, very small amount of cucumber and a couple of leaves of Cilantro. It was absolutely nothing to write home about. Next, and this was quite honestly the star of the show, Was the fried green beans, Nothing special, But at least they were cooked well and came out hot. The only reason they shine is because everything else is so Dreadfully bad And dull. Let’s talk about the chicken wings, They are tiny, They don’t taste good. The fat is not correctly, rendered down for a fried chicken wing, Over fried, Cooked in old grease and just were far too small to justify the price tag. They were served with two Terribly sweet Basic corn syrup products As dipping sauces. Absolutely stay away from the fried chicken wings if you like fried chicken wings that is and you don’t want your dreams smashed to pieces. My husband ordered the pad Thai noodles, which arrived as basically a gloopy undercooked mess in a bowl. Whilst the noodles were undercooked, it had somehow become a congealed sloppy mess in a bowl. The only way I can logically see how this arrived in such a manner, was that they cook a whole bunch of it all at once. And it’s just hard luck if you get the dreggs of the last batch they made. it was absolutely not made fresh there is no way it would be that stuck together so quickly, only happens when the starches from the noodles starts to congeal. Now, let’s talk about the coconut shrimp six tiny pieces of tasteless shrimp over fried, again in old oil as you can smell it on the food. Chicken satay skewers that just looked awful, no char, no flavor and just again completely overpriced as per the tiny portion. Lastly I have a very strong feeling that this company is doing some fraudulent drinks practices , as I ordered 4 tigers tail cocktails, 2 at the bar whilst we waited, and two with dinner ,(i use that term loosely ). I had only eaten 1 banana that day and should have at least felt a slight buzz …. Not a darn thing. Two drinks at the bar $30 , two people for dinner and a couple of “drinks” and here we are $137:50 later and I can honestly say my husband and I both feel cheated. Food wasn’t good, food wasn’t fresh, food was poor quality, and badly cooked. The drinks are completely watered down, and our service was terrible as we strongly think our waiter kept sneaking off to go and get high. Just an all-around terrible dining experience for almost $150 You...
Read moreHawkers came highly recommended to me. Sometimes a high recommendation is a good thing and sometimes it sets your expectations so high you end up disappointed. Unfortunately in this scenario it's the latter. The hostesses had the personalities of drying wallpaper. The tables were half filled and we were told there was a 30 minute wait. Ended up being a 5 minute wait thanks to some ladies that wanted the bar instead. After seating drink order was taken quickly. If you order anything other than water be prepared to wait a bit. Our order was chili garlic edamame and chicken dumplings for apps then udon yaki noodle bowl and hokkien mee noodle bowl for entrees. Garlic edamame came quickly. One word: flavorless. Moving on. The edamame deserves no more time. Still no dumplings. The noodle bowls came in decent time. Still no dumplings. I asked about them and the waiter looked at me like I was crazy and said they were coming. My apologies, sir. I figured since they are under the starters section they would come before the entrees. Pardon my stupidity. Halfway through our bowls the dumplings came. They were not worth the wait. They were not even worth ordering. Thick dumpling with a filling like a ball of rubber bands. Oh! The noodle bowls. So the udon yaki was delicious (this is the reason the 2 stars). Asian food should be full of flavor. The udon yaki met that requirement. The hokkien mee not so much. It tasted like they used powdered brown gravy mixture and combined it with noodles. Not much flavor at all to that dish. I am a huge fan of Asian food, so I was very disappointed with Hawkers. It seemed to be more of a trendy spot for millennials to gather and use chopsticks. Don't think I'll be returning. I'd rather go to the local Chinese take out or sushi joint to enjoy...
